i saw something moving out of the corner of my eye. it was my hair, expanding like a wild shrub...coiling and growing with every breathe.

I told her about the B/E/M massage experience described in Flanagan's book.

I told her that given my psych/sciency background, I thought it likely to be that the massage therapist hit a nerve that went to the part of the brain causing visual hallucinations.

She said that it could be (agreeing just because she's so nice, no doubt), but that she believes in an exchange of energy between the therapist and the person being massaged. She said she's felt drained after massaging certain people.

She also said that she's spoken to a man who swears he had an out of body experience while being massaged.

She went on to say that whatever U2's therapist did, she'd love to tap into it...the ability to send people on a safe, drug-free trip. She's really funny, and very sweet.
