There's plenty of fun to be had outside of PLEBA. You just gotta remember to ignore certain posters, and avoid certain forums like WOAH.

Well, so far it's just been reported in Pleba.

I'm with you on the "products" thing, but I'd be really, really surprised if that happens. I'm sure it's just a smart business move thing, a "protect my brand" thing, since his name is his 'brand,' to use a somewhat crass business term.

Me, I'm going to pretend he did it so he can finally put the kibosh on that icky Pavel going around and infringing upon his brand.

Good point. I wonder what effect this move is gonna have on that guy. :hmm:

I thought about him while reading a story about some Kenny Chesney lookalike who got tossed from a Kenny Chesney concert. Heh.

If anything, I wonder if it would mean he at least can't sign Bono's name to autographs. No idea how that works between Ireland and the US, though, as far as trademarks go. I know diddly about copyright/trademark law.

Oh, except that if you're trademarked, you're pretty much obligated to stop others from infringing upon your brand, because if you don't, then otherwise someone might someday have a claim against your trademark, or something like that.

Which is why Starbucks does go after coffee shops whose names/signs are an obviously Starbucks rip-off.

What's-his-face got his ass tossed in Anaheim for working the crowd outside the stadium on show day. He had mostly the venue security fooled and as usual the fans who don't know Bono from a bad impersonator.

They eventually caught on and got rid of him.

I hadn't heard about that!

Good.

Yeah a venue security guy came by and told us Bono was outside the stadium greeting fans. He was totally serious. I kept telling him NO way, it was an impersonator and he just argued with me saying he saw him himself bla bla bla. I knew instantly who it was. :| Sure enough pics later confirmed it.

What a total dipshit.

Spoilered so you don't have to look at his gross face if you don't want to:

At first, quick glance I could see how people might be fooled.

But you'd think that people lining up to see U2 would recognize Bono vs NOTBONO as soon as he got within two feet of them.

I don't know how that security thing would work. Did he just walk up, all "Hey, it's me, Bono! I'm here to mingle. Provide me with protection, please."

Did he roll up in a limo? One would think that security people would know what time the ACTUAL BAND was ACTUALLY ARRIVING, since this would be relevant to their interests.

Yeah it's totally  Though I think that photo there might have been as he was being escorted off the grounds. And yet, he has the nerve to reach out and shake fan's hands?? THAT right there is just another proof of his absolute scumbagness.

quick glance, he's gotten rid of the tan. But then? Hair is WAY too thin and spiky, I see chin. Haven't seen Bono's chin since he stopped shaving in iono 2009? The rosary. Bono NEVER wears it over his shirt unless it's an important moment, nose is far too small, ears are too big. white One wristband on his right hand, Bono wears it on his left.

Yeah, I can't say that I know what wrist he wears stuff on, or details about the rosary. (I am, however, embarrassed to admit that I didn't notice the lack of scruff.)

Because some of us are usually able to let the bullshit go in one ear and out the other? And because there are other people not in Pleba I enjoy interacting with? (I enjoy answering rhetorical questions. )

The main U2 talky forum is heavily irritating, but I enjoy spending a lot of time in the music and TV/movie sections.

Wait...is there a place to talk about Sherlock on there??

No Amy. FOCUS.

That reminds of the Fake Bono that walked the line in RI in 2001 doing Bono moves and mooching donuts.

I don't think anyone has mentioned it in the Random TV thread (I could be wrong), but you could start a thread and see if anyone wants to talk about it.

Who would've thought I'd be good with kids. Ha. Little one sat up crying in his bed, while we agreed with his mom that he'd call me if something was up. He wouldn't stop crying, wouldn't tell me what was up. And I figured it out. /proudofself/ He had an earache, he's had a couple of those over the years, so I gave him his medication for it, and sat with him downstairs a bit(Seinfeld was on but he doesn't understand English anyway) and then he wanted to go back to bed on his own. :cute: Still the cutest little boy evar.

No...no. I don't need to give credence to this. U2! U2! U2! U2!

Yeah, this just gave me a pit in my stomach. Not because I think it's the end for U2 (though...he really, really needs to STFU). Everyone's kids are older. Go hole up in a studio far far away and remember what brought you together in the 1st place.

BUT - there might be real reason for trademarking for his signature as people have made money off of forging it.

But I will be SICK if I start to see 'Bono' products come out. I don't give a flying fuck if it ALL goes to charity. It's just gross.

This is probably the worst hiatus we've seen. And I am scared shitless to venture out of Pleba to see how the fandom takes this news.

Hey all.

The comments in that article (besides the name trademark thing) sound like a rehash of those comments he made last year or early this year. I doubt they're new. That said, agree with Grace, sometimes he needs to learn to stfu. :)
