Oh, me too. I was in love with Sherlock Holmes for years (still am a bit). I can't say I was ever in love with any of the LOTR characters but maybe I am now.

How delightful, a fellow maniac!! But it's less of an anomaly than you'd think. It was partly to do with Jeremy Brett on TV (so strangely sexy) and partly just the character as Doyle portrayed him. More recently, have you read Laurie King's books?
