there is also this awesome of picture on my wall of bono in leather pants (boy era) on his knees trying to raise the microphone stand (if any one has that please post) next to a clash pic of joe on his knees with the mic stand. i know there is no real significants of the pictures but i was bored and thought it was kinda cool. these guys are my heros you know!

for sake of this thread not being a waste of space you can post your favorite vertigo tour photos or something.

GREAT thread - and I agree with your idea, zoo person!

It's no secret that one of Bono's and U2's main musical influences was Joe Strummer and the Clash.

The Clash are one of my all time favorite bands other than U2 and I've noticed the similarities.

The Clash were the coolest band ever to walk on this planet! (Paul Simenon  ) If you're gonna rip off anybody, rip off the best!

You said it best. blueeyedgirl.

That's cool! The Clash were one of their major influences, U2 was just less punk. They didn't look at Rock N' Roll as a fashion statement. I love The Clash though, they're one of my favs too.

yeah of course there are more important, deeper rooted similarities between the two. i just thought it would be fun to see it through pics

today is the 3rd anniversary of Joe Strummer's death for those of you who weren't aware, so the revival of this thread is kinda cool.

hahaha you are right! rock stars should be scrawny.

the Clash were the first band that bono edge adam and larry ever saw play live. the edge inducted the Clash into the rock 'n' roll hall of fame in 2004.

thamks, zooperson, for the reminder on Joe Strummer's passing.

I was just going to post it, but I'm glad that someone else remembered this very sad day for a lot of us.

Joe Strummer will live on in his music for a very long time.
