Bruce's land of hope and dreams
Imagine there's no heaven
Its easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
and the world will live as ONE

One

Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you now
You've got someone to blame

You say
one love
One life
When it's one need
in the night
It's one love
We get to share it
Leaves you, baby, if you don't care for it.

Did I disappoint you
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without?

Well it's too late
Tonight
To drag the past out into the light
We're one
But we're not the same
WE GET TO CARRY EACH OTHER
CARRY EACH OTHER
ONE

Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead?
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head?
Did I ask too much
More than a lot
You gave me nothing now it's all I've got
We're one
But we're not the same
Well we hurt eachother
Then we do it again

You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
You ask me to enter
And then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you've got
When all you've got is hurt

ONE LOVE
ONE BLOOD
ONE LIFE
You've got to do what you should

ONE LIFE
WITH EACHOTHER
SISTERS
BROTHERS

ONE LIFE
BUT WE'RE NOT THE SAME
WE GET TO CARRY EACH OTHER
CARRY EACHOTHER

ONE (LOVE)
ONE

"Imagine" fits perfectly for today's situation. The lyrics are so fitting for today... they brought tears to my eyes.

Peace on Earth

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heaven on Earth
We need it now
I'm sick of all of this
Hanging around

Sick of sorrow
I'm sick of the pain
I'm sick of hearing
Again and again
That there's gonna be
Peace on Earth

Where I grew up
There weren't many trees
Where there was we'd tear them down
And use them on our enemies

They say that what you mock
Will surely overtake you
And you become a monster
So the monster will not break you

And it's already gone too far
Who said that if you go in hard
You won't get hurt

Jesus can you take the time
To throw a drowning man a line
Peace on Earth

Tell the ones who hear no sound
Whose sons are living in the ground
Peace on Earth

No whos or whys
No one cries like a mother cries
For peace on Earth

She never got to say goodbye
To see the color in his eyes
Now he's in the dirt
Peace on Earth

They're reading names out
Over the radio
All the folks the rest of us
Won't get to know

Sean and Julia
Gareth, Ann, and Breda
Their lives are bigger than
Any big idea

Jesus can you take the time
To throw a drowning man a line
Peace on Earth

To tell the ones who hear no sound
Whose sons are living in the ground
Peace on Earth

Jesus in this song you wrote
The words are sticking in my throat
Peace on Earth

Hear it every Christmas time
But hope and history won't rhyme
So what's it worth

This peace on Earth
Peace on Earth
Peace on Earth
Peace on Earth

Amen

I like "Imagine" but I am sorry, I don't want to imagine the world with no heaven. I think the spirit of the song is lovely, but I disagree with the philosophy. Oh well, now's not the time or the place.

God Bless All

I know sweetie-as if I need more tears today. That song just plays over and over in my head today.

If only the message would get through to some of these people. And the beautiful soul who brought us that song was murdered too.

If he had lived to see today-and what the world has come to...

I agree with you Tania.

But I think what he was saying in that song was just about the killing and violence that goes on in the name of 'religion', that's all.

Today more than ever is a day to imagine a world without hate, but with a Heaven.

For those who we've lost:

Tomorrow

Won't you come back tomorrow
Won't you come back tomorrow
Won't you come back tomorrow
Can I sleep tonight

Outside
Somebody's outside
Somebody's knocking at the door
There's a black car parked
At the side of the road
Don't go to the door
Don't go to the door

I'm going out
I'm going outside mother
I'm going out there

Won't you be back tomorrow
Won't you be back tomorrow
Will you be back tomorrow

Who broke the window
Who broke down the door
Who tore the curtain
And who was He for
Who healed the wounds
Who heals the scars
Open the door
Open the door

Won't you come back tomorrow
Won't you be back tomorrow
Will you be back tomorrow
Can I sleep tonight

Cause I want you...I...I want you...
I really...I...I want...I...I...
I want you to be back tomorrow
I want you to be back tomorrow
Will you be back tomorrow

Won't you be back tomorrow
Won't you be back tomorrow
Will you be back tomorrow
Open up, open up
To the lamb of God
To the love of he who made
The blind to see
He's coming back
He's coming back
I believe it
Jesus coming

I'm gonna be there
I'm gonna be there mother
I'm gonna be there mother
I'm going out there
And you're gonna be there...

...imagine there's no heaven? Then what else do we have to live for????

Geez Disco
I just listened to the October cd before dinner. *PLEBA psychic connections*

Also -- side note -- I was in a dept store the other day and some baby clothes line has stuff with animals on it and quotes from 'imagine' ANYWAY...

I can't believe the news today...etc.

Hey gals... 'I can't believe the news today'.. it seems like a never-ending movie
frown.gif
I'm so glad you all are caring and have so much heart, concern and compassion... you are the best.
While I'm not affected directly by this (meaning with relatives, or friends in NYC) I still am in shock... just watching the news... all I can do is get through this day. I wish I could give blood! (I'm underage though)
My heart and prayers goes out to everyone in New York... and I was so glad to hear Bono was not there in the other post. This is such a terrible day... but I'm sure we will pull through, no matter how hard it will be.

I can't believe the news today
Oh, I can't close my eyes
And make it go away
How long...
How long must we sing this song?
How long? How long...
'cause tonight...we can be as one
Tonight...

Broken bottles under children's feet
Bodies strewn across the dead end street
But I won't heed the battle call
It puts my back up
Puts my back up against the wall

Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday, Bloody Sunday

And the battle's just begun
There's many lost, but tell me who has won
The trench is dug within our hearts
And mothers, children, brothers, sisters
Torn apart

Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday, Bloody Sunday

How long...
How long must we sing this song?
How long? How long...
'cause tonight...we can be as one
Tonight...tonight...

Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Sunday, Bloody Sunday

Wipe the tears from your eyes
Wipe your tears away
Oh, wipe your tears away
Oh, wipe your tears away
(Sunday, Bloody Sunday)
Oh, wipe your blood shot eyes
(Sunday, Bloody Sunday)

Sunday, Bloody Sunday (Sunday, Bloody Sunday)
Sunday, Bloody Sunday (Sunday, Bloody Sunday)

And it's true we are immune
When fact is fiction and TV reality
And today the millions cry
We eat and drink while tomorrow they die

(Sunday, Bloody Sunday)

The real battle just begun
To claim the victory Jesus won
On...

Sunday Bloody Sunday
Sunday Bloody Sunday...

I got out of class today, came home and put Imagine on repeat. You ladies must be reading my mind. I also kept listening to New York and When I Look at the World. Peace on Earth, and Sunday Bloody Sunday were just too much to bear right now.

All We Are Saying...Is Give Peace A Chance

I'm still praying for everyone. For those lost, for peace in this world...
Thank you everyone for your words!

One Tree Hill

We turn away to face the cold, enduring chill
As the day begs the night for mercy love
The sun so bright it leaves no shadows
Only scars carved into stone
On the face of earth
The moon is up and over One Tree Hill
We see the sun go down in your eyes

You run like river, on like a sea
You run like a river runs to the sea

And in the world a heart of darkness
A fire zone
Where poets speak their heart
Then bleed for it
Jara sang, his song a weapon
In the hands of love
You know his blood still cries
From the ground

It runs like a river runs to the sea
It runs like a river to the sea

I don't believe in painted roses
Or bleeding hearts
While bullets rape the night of the merciful
I'll see you again
When the stars fall from the sky
And the moon has turned red
Over One Tree Hill

We run like a river
Run to the sea
We run like a river to the sea
And when it's raining
Raining hard
That's when the rain will
Break my heart

Raining...raining in the heart
Raining in your heart
Raining...raining to your heart
Raining, raining...raining
Raining to your heart
Raining...raining in your heart
Raining in your heart..
To the sea

Oh great ocean
Oh great sea
Run to the ocean
Run to the sea

This was purely coincedentally the last song I listened to before I left for work this morning at 8:00 a.m.

Happy Christmas (War is Over)
by John Lennon

So this is Christmas
And what have you done?
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young.

A very Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

And so this is Christmas
For weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong
And so this is Christmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight.
A very Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

So this is Christmas
And what have you done?
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young.

A very Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

War is over!
If you want it
War is over!
Now!

oh...One Tree Hill makes me cry. What the hell...I'll listen to it after work anyway.
I've already cried today--why not cry some more??

Besides, I don't think I can handle homework tonight. Will do some extra bonding with my stereo instead.

*WITH GOD ON OUR SIDE*

Oh my name it is nothin'
My age it means less
The country I come from
Is called the Midwest
I's taught and brought up there
The laws to abide
And that land that I live in
Has God on its side.

Oh the history books tell it
They tell it so well
The cavalries charged
The Indians fell
The cavalries charged
The Indians died
Oh the country was young
With God on its side.

Oh the Spanish-American
War had its day
And the Civil War too
Was soon laid away
And the names of the hereoes
I's made to memorize
With guns in their hands
And God on their side.

Oh the first World War, boys
It closed out its fate
The reason for fighting
I never got straight
But I learned to accept it
Accept it with pride
For you don't count the dead
When God's on your side.

When the Second World War
Came to an end
We forgave the Germans
And we were friends
Though they murdered six million
In the ovens they fried
Ther Germans now too
Have God on their side

I've learned to hate Russians
All through my whole life
If another war starts
It's them we must fight
To hate them and fear them
To run and to hide
And accept it all bravely
With God on my side.

But now we got weapons
Of the chemical dust
If fire them we're forced to Then fire them we must
One push of the button
And a shot the world wide
And you never ask quesitons
When God's on your side.

In a many dark hour
I've been thinkin' about this
That Jesus Christ
Was betrayed by a kiss
But I can't think for you
You'll have to decide
Whether Judas Iscariot
Had God on his side.

So now as I'm leavin'
I'm weary as hell
The confusion I'm feelin'
Ain't no tongue can tell
The words fill my head
And fall to the floor
If God's on our side
He'll stop the next war.
