Ah girls, these last couple of weeks have been so horrible!

A few weeks ago my ma went to see the doc and he said she had anemia, so he gave her some iron tablets. The anemia didn't get any better so they ran some more tests. They found something in her colon and last week they confirmed it was cancer.

I'm still so shocked in can't believe this is happening to my ma. You never think this could happen to somebody you love.

The good thing is that she's going under surgery next Tuesday and they will remove the bad bits ( which amoutn to almost a meter or so). When the specialist saw all the test he said: Ah don't worry madam...This looks pretty good" What he meant was that the prospect is very good.

I'm scared as hell, but I trust the Guy Above. He won't leave us in times like these. My ma's faith is incredebly strong and I know He won't let her down. Faith can work miracles

And something very weird happened the other day. After hearing the news on the phone ( I was at work) I turned on the radio and they were playing "Stuck in a moment", the bit when Bono sings: You've got to get yourself together..." I was like: Well,t his has to be a sign! lol... See? U2 is always there when I need to cheer up :)

Well, girls..If you are one of those poeple who believe in the power of prayer, please say a little prayer for my ma and keep your fingers crossed :)

Whenever someone I know has a relative with cancer and optimisim isn't at its highest, I them about my ex-boyfriend's mom. She had terminal cancer, something there is no coming back from, the doctor's gave her a few months to live. Her husband asked everyone at church to pray for her before her next doctor's appointment, which they gladly did. At her next doctor's visit they could fine no cancer anywhere. This all happened several years before I was with my ex, so by the time I knew his mom she was in great health, about 10 years beyond this whole experience and still cancer free. There are miracles, if you have faith and a positive attitude, you can conquer most anything. Best wishes to your mom.

Niamh,. I hope your mom's treatments go smoothly and are few. You and your family are in my thoughts. We're all here for you!

She'll be fine.

Prayers for your mom and you. Have faith.
I have two very special people in my life that were diagnosed with stage 3 and stage 4 cancer 2 years ago. Both are cancer free now.
Faith can work miracles.

This must be very stressful for you Flavia, keep the faith and just let your mom know you love her. Colon cancer runs on both sides of my family, I'm fearful that that is what will get me one day - but at least I know to get screened for it early. I'll be praying for the doctor's skill for her surgery and for a fast full recovery

My dear Pleba fellows: you are the best!

Thanks for all the support, the kind words and the prayers. It's very very comforting.

My mum is being very positive at the moment and she said she trusts in God and that He will help her through these difficult moments. Lots of pepole are praying for her so she feels confident everything will be alright.

Tomorrow she's being admitted into the Clinic so she can have a blood tranfussion and check how the anemia thing is going. An Tuesday morning is the big day. I'm gonna stay in the hospital that night to keep her company and look after her. I'll let you know how things go on Wednesday morning ( when I go back to work)

Prayers for hers and your strength, excellent skills for the surgery team for a sucessful surgery & healing meditations for your Mom!.

I'm glad that some of your out there have shared your stories of cancer healing through prayer.

Two years a ago my sis had off & on then increasing terrible, way too long bleeding {period} for a decade plus, and they kept trying different things. Finally they did tests she had avoided getting fior a while {after it got so bad that past year}. The first came out negstive, but the next 1 or 2 tests came out positive.

She has healer friends {and thier freinds} and I got my side of friends to join in. When they finally got in there she was then 1% away from having cancer. SHe had ro have surgery but at least the cancer was gone. phew!

I'm glad your Mom's feeling good {considering}.

It's very understandible that you are worrie!.
I have had so many terrible illness scares with my parents, way before they even got into their elder years. Yeah, it's bad whenever but worse [i think, anyway], when you are & she is on the young & younger side

3 suggestions:

*If you haven't thought of these already-- print out this thread do you will really have something tangible in your hands of our good wishes on those 2 days.

*If you can get the homeopathic remedy Arnica Montanaaround 30c, but check with a pharmicist if they have other strengths ie; 12c. It's a general healer for bruising, strains, sprains, i think inflammation, too. Since in surgery you're damaging muscle areas etc to get in to the area they need to work on it still helps.

It is excellent for all surgeries. My sis has had three surgeries, she healed very well, sometimes even quicker than they expected her, too. I've taken it for major dental work, including extraction. Each time I have had usually much less pain than I'd ever expected. If it was bad at all, the pain dimished in quite a faster time.

*If you have a walkman or portable CD player you can bring soothing music for your self and or your mom. If you have two of these machines that's even better.

Ask on Mon if they can let your mom have the CD player in the surgery room {I think people have done this already} at least she'll have music as they start the procedure. I know some surgery rooms have music piped in, but what if the patient doesn't like that music?

If she can't at least you'll have something to ease your mind and distract it some.

hope some of this is useful. Things do sound on the postive side from her medical people! I'm glad you'll be with her.

 s again. Good Luck.
