Okay, I have a confession to make, the reason why I start the Freestylin' thread on Thursday afternoon isn't really because I know it's Friday somewhere in the world, it's because I really like kicking this little thing off and I am desperately trying to beat someone else to the punch. There, I feel so much better getting that off my chest.

Anway, welcome one and all to another Edge celebration. Based on some requests from last week's thread (which is currently still active, how rocking is that?) this week is all about Edge and his guitar. Live shots, posed shots, shots from any era, it does not matter, this thread is dedicated to the man and his instrument (keep it clean, girls, keep it clean)!

Side note, let's see how many different pics we can find of the Explorer through the years, like from earliest to most current. Also, does anyone know if a photo or description exists of the guitar Dik and Edge built when they first joined what would become U2?

so there's that thread talking about gifs, well i started to read it and someone posted saying that you hit alt+printscreen to copy the thing and then you put the image into a photo programme...so not having a photo programme i stuck things in paint...i know these aren't as good as everyone else's screen captures, but it was fun...

the dvd player ones died on their way to snapfish cos those were the better ones

Wow, I didn't realize Edge owned so many "Jerry" shirts... very frilly... looks pirate-like.

The genius is eccentric... he's a juke box hero... he's got stars in his eyes...

There I didn't say anything mean... didn't invade PLEBA...yet

we'll leave that for another Edge Friday...till then ladies...

after my stupid thing about guitar pics, i figured that why not discuss the backwards pick thing (that magazine cover reminded me of this cos there's this part where edge is talking about how he doesn't use the pointy side of the pick).

so here's the visual aid, from "don't take your guns to town":

here we have isolated the guitar pick. you will notice that it has been circled* with green...green virtual ink.

the arrow indicates exactly where the 'pointy part' of the pick is. that part of the pick is visible, therefore edge cannot be strumming with it.

*it's actually more of an oval than a circle

You were wondering how to play WOWY properly... that's how... upstrokes pick backwards... why am I still here?

is that something that's rare? to use the other side of the pic. when I took guitar lessons my guitar teacher used the other side of the pic, but his pics were also very small.
