Hey guys! OH MY GOSH! I am sooo excited. I get the atu2.com newsletter and this is what they sent me today. (I'm not sure if you guys already know about it, but it is news to me!!)

"Austrian newspaper Kurier has a current article previewing album releases
for 2002 from various record labels. The listing for Universal Records
includes U2's "Best of 1991-2001" and says it will be released in November."

*faints* This is so great. I wonder what songs are going to be on it??

here's a good place to ask a question:

i don't own the first best of cd. is there a bside album with it? is it inside or do you have to buy it extra? cause when i look at the back of the album, it only lists album songs.

It was a double album... album songs on one CD and B-sides on the other...

It was a limited edition of Best of. A double cd, one with the album songs and one with b-sides and they were in the same case and the b-sides were listed on the backside. To find it now you have to go to a used store or a very selective one that can take orders and have connections over the world.

I'm not sure, but I think Best Buy re-released it when the DVD came out. So check there. I've seen it in a few other stores too, so try a few different places if Best Buy doesn't have it.

Yep, it's Best Buy that has it. At least for the cheapest price -- S13.99. I've seen in another store for $23.00 or something.

This is great news!!!!! I don't see why they wouldn't have a limited edition available for "1991-2001"... since there was one for "1980-1990". They'll probably offer both editions like last time. *keeps fingers crossed*

No to be the pessimist, but I heard this yesterday night on the U2LA board and the first thing that came to mind was that if they plan to release the Best Of this year then we're most likely not getting the new album this year like the previous rumors.

Why? Well because there's no record company crazy enough to release 2 albums from the same artist within 6 months of each other. It hurts sales and it's also overkill.

I think I heard an interview or something where Bono mentions putting Blue Room

Yes, while this may have some truth to it, popular artists often release holiday albums the same year as regular albums. Maybe there is some hope?
