Deathmatch: U2 vs. Tenacious D?

In an article from the Toronto Star....

There are many words one might use to describe Tenacious D and its
eponymous debut album of last year - silly, profane, hilarious, abrasive,
sophomoric, scatological, vicious - but modest would not rank remotely
among them. Informed that Bono, singer of the rather better-known rock
outfit U2, has also spent much of the past year laying claim to the "greatest
band in the world" moniker, Black erupts with incredulity. Goaded on by
his rotund and balding sidekick, lead guitarist Kyle Gass, Black throws
down the gauntlet.

"If Bono wants to go head to head, I say, 'Hey Leather Man with the funky
goggles, meet us in Toronto on the 24th and your butt will be blasted off the
stage.'"

Even assuming that U2 has better things to do on the night of Jan. 24 than
turn up for Tenacious D's debut Toronto gig at Kool Haus, there will be more
than enough rock star posturing and bombast to go around.

"We saw U2, actually, when we were on tour with Weezer," Black continues,
his pique having momentarily subsided into chummy banter.

"They were playing at a slightly bigger venue than we were. They were
playing at the mega-dome, while we were around the corner at the, um,
shrimp shack. So we went to check out the competish.

"I'm not gonna lie. They were good. They were damn good. Except it was
clear that Bono had smuggled a bootleg videotape of one of our shows and
had stolen every one of our moves.

"I'm not gonna sue him for that," he concludes. "It's just, like, 'Whatever, dude.'"

Who would win?

There's no way Tenacious D is better than U2.

LMAO at the "Leather Man" comment.

Saw Jack Black on SNL last night and laughed my ass off. Loved his opening number, talk about ego trip. He sings really well too.

Yeah I saw some of SNL last night (I shut if off after Weekend Update)

Even though the sketch was stupid, all I could think about in the Bass Players skit was Adam...

But the stoner one was pretty funny
