I think that he lost it a long time ago! I never see Ali wearing one either. They probably couldn't afford anything too elaborate at the time,then decided to not wear anything at all.

It's possible he lost it, or just decided to stop wearing it. As has been pointed out, Ali doesn't wear hers either. My parents have been married 32 years, and neither of them wear their wedding rings anymore. My dad lost his somewhere in the Ohio river, and my mom's doesn't fit her anymore.
