When I was in Ireland this fall, I bought a book called Voices and Poetry of Ireland. It has over 100 famous Irish voices reading poems by Irish writers. Three CDs came with the book.

Bono reads a poem called "God's Laughter" by Brendan Kennelly. :)

Apologies for posting if everyone already knows about this...I would love to share it though, if anyone is interested. But I don't know how to use You Send It. Can anyone tell me how to put the file out there? Thanks!

Ok....go to www.yousendit.com... ignore step #1

Just click on the 'browse' button in step #2 and select the file. Then click the step #3 button that says 'send it'. A progress bar will show and depending on the file size it will take a minute or a few. Then something like this will show up:

"Your file has been successfully stored!
We've stored your file on our server.
Here is a link for your reference:"

Highlight that http link under that message, copy it and then paste it here in a post!

This is how it is in the book.

Someone had mercy on language
changed it into something else I can touch
I can touch
grow to love, murmured Ace
as he heard the stranger talking of how
laughter comes from God.

Who, hearing words from his own mouth
and from others, can stop himself
laughing or freezing in terror

at sound bubbling up out of infinite
emptiness? Well, fill it with pride
and let vanity strut along for the ride.

When the ride peters out at the edge
of small daring, that other sound
opens.

This is the sound of God's laughter,
like nothing on earth, it fills
earth from grave to mountain-top,
lingers there a while, then like a great
bird spreading its wings for home or somewhere
like home,
heads out into silence,
gentle and endless, longing to understand

children, killers of children, killers. Mercy. Silence. Sound.
Merycy. Sound. Word. Sound. Change, there must be
change. There is. Say flesh. Say love. Say dust.
Say laughter. Who will call the fled bird back?
Stand. Kneel. Curse. Pray. Give us this day
our daily laughter. Let it show the way.
Thank God someone has mercy
on the words we find we must say.

Have not listened to it yet, but thank you in advance!

I have an mp3 of Baby Bono entitled "Driving to Midnight Mass" and then something else (a prayer I think) in Spanish if anyone is interested... not sure how widely available these were...

ETA:  I love this man...

Thank.you

I'm interested! Thanks!

To all of you who helped to bring us these wonderful word sounds to us -

There is nothing that I like better than to hear Bono's voice - except to see Bono's smile!

Excellent poems. Amazing man....:bono:

Does anybody remember that poem he read on the Andrea Bocelli cd (was it Andrea Bocelli or was it some other opera-type guy?)?

That was so sexy... I've never really cared much for my mum's music collection until she said that she'd bought that cd...

Let me know if you need me to post a new You Send It link. Sorry it didn't work for you, Kelly. :(
