I never realised that Bono is mates with Elton John! I was reading an article with Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant in which he said that he met Bono and Ali at Eltons house in France!
Heres what he said,
"We were at Eltons house in the South of France and Bono and his wife came around to dinner. We wondered how he was going to be because we had done a slightly satirical version of Where The Streets Have No Name. Bono is quite obsessed by the difference between rock and pop. We were in the 80's but we kind of grew out of it. There was a lot of drinking ging on and so when Bono jumped into the pool from Elton's terrace I thought, 'I can't let him get away with that' and jumped in after him. He said 'Ok, it's Rock 1, Pop 1', but I think he' much more competitive than I am. It wasn't a typical evening at Elton's. Elton doesn't usually stay up that late"
