Looks like maybe a tent/shelter erected over the seating area in case of rain.

I'm not sure. Most people here do not pursue anything beyond and undergrad degree, it's just too insanely expensive unless you have some sort of stipend or fellowship helping with the costs but that's not a given. Certain jobs do require higher level degrees (medical doctors, veterinarians, lawyers for example but also stuff like social work you're going to at least need a masters) but for everyone else it's not required and usually not the norm because of the cost and taking hours away from when you could be working. For someone like me, doing a masters would be a waste of my time and money, as my job requires me to add technical certifications in order to get promoted, and those are totally different training programs than going back to school for a masters degree. The only people I know that continue school full time after their undergrad degree are people who are already independently wealthy or very smart and are getting paid to continue their education but like I said, those people are in the minority. That is probably why most people work and then continue with their masters part time. Only a few can actually afford to be in school full time beyond 4-5 years and not be able to work at the same time. Many masters programs here are setup for people that work all day and then take 1-2 classes in the evenings. My husband will take 2-3 classes a year (one at a time) until he is finished with his masters and that is how the program is setup, for working adults. They only offer one masters class at a time anyway, so he couldn't quit his job and go back to being a full time student even if we could afford it. His job (elementary education K-5 and special education K-12) requires him to continue obtaining college credits in order to maintain his teaching certificate, and since his current employer was granted money to fund their employees' continuing education we can afford for him to take a few classes a year. Without that money from the employer (or if it runs out) he could probably only take one class a year. Just an undergrad degree here costs around $50K-$100K. The government doesn't pay for any of it other than loaning you their money but that's a student loan, you pay it back plus interest so it really costs you more. Some states have a bit of money to grant how they chose but usually those grants only make a marginal dent in tuition costs. |

True, though I must admit he STILL looks good. Is that the good old blue suit he's wearing there? I haven't seen this piece in quite some time. Only Bono can wear such a classy suit with his hair looking like that. |

I do wonder the lack of hair product lately. Did he just borrow Larry's while on tour? I'll admit that I kind of like it, when it's behaving as best as it can. The man has a sordid past with unruly hair.
Damn. I wish it were Wednesday. Missed opportunity for Leather Day. |

I've been watching Bono's Africa speeches for 10 years now, and I have to say that he's really gotten a lot better at it. He's always been a good speaker, but it seems to come more naturally to him now than it did back in 2002.
