Alright, I think I remember reading a thread about this roughly a year and a half ago, but what the hell...lets do it again. Anyone care to speculate who might be opening for U2 this time around?

Speculations:

1. John Mayer - Not really a fan...just he seems to be the "it" guy right now.

2. Nickelback - Just kidding...just trying to think of an opening act that would actually make me think of not seeing U2. Maybe Staind....hmmm

3. Ben Harper - very cool.

4. Pearl Jam - the 10+ year anniversary (give or take eh?)

5. Beta Band - sweet.

6. Echo and the Bunnymen

7. Jay Geils Band - what are they doing now?

8. The Corey Feldmen Allstar Band

9. PJ Harvey - if we could be so lucky...

10. Doug Flutie. Need I say more?

I would enjoy the Foo Fighters opening for U2. They were going to open for them at Slane but they had to cancel. So it could happen. I think Dave Grohl is a U2 fan.

I would adore it if either Powderfinger or The Living End opened for U2 in Australia. If they go to New Zealand, I can so see Zed opening for them.

I think we should examine who is in the interscope/universal music group family and will have something out in 2004.

what about bands paul mcguinnes manages? isnt that how they got pj harvey, or am i loco?

The Flaming Lips.

Regionally, I wouldn't mind seeing Sam Roberts in Canada. Lots of love for that guy.

Well, considering Zed's also on Interscope, I think that makes them a shoe-in to open in New Zealand.

I think...

Just got done listening to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and could realistically see them opening especially if U2 is doing "rock" album. Same with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club b/c they have thanked U2 and are supposedly an influence to U2.

Coldplay is too big to open for U2 unless they do something in Britain?

rage and oasis opened for u2 on popmart... u2's bigger now then they were durring popmart (if that's possiable), and coldplay's no bigger than rage was at the time. no doubt opened on elevation... they're pretty big themselves.

besides... look at all the acts that opened for the stones on their last tour... i think u2 are now at "that" level where a "big" act could open for them.

They were crap at the ARIAs a while back ... or some awards thing, anyway.

no ones too big to open for u2. if the red hot chilli peppers can, then anyone can.
