It really makes a difference with the numbering system. The lottery on this leg is much better than hearing about the drama that people went through on the Elevation Tour. I think it's pretty shitty that the same people who went to every show felt they had every right to be up front. I think with this lottery on this tour everyone gets an equal shot. But some people are so huffy and puffy over it. If people have stayed overnight they have every friggin right to be upfront. It's classless people who show up 5 minutes before show time to try to get to the front of the line. I have school coming up in the fall and I have GA's but if I'm late to the concert then that's fine I'm going to the back of the line. I am sure as hell not going to push my way up front.

Yes thats not on but if you are meeting up with friends who have queued and they have told the fans near them (in 99/9% of the cases you get to talk to people near you thats half the fun!) that you're coming its just not an issue.

Well it wasnt with us we wouldnt be so petty.

No not at all just queue like civilised people or isnt that possible??????????

Are you kidding me? It's like a mad dash if there was no numbering system. People would be flipping the hell out. At one of the Boston shows I went to in May, a person was in charge with the numbering system. People lined up overnight. Whatever number you had you would line up according to your number. Then security would take fan club and regular into two separate lines and then you would get your wristband. You would have to come back at 5:00 to line up according to your number. After that....well you're in.

The problem is if noone was doing the numbering people would get nasty. You're living in a fantasy world if you think people are going to be civilised without a numbering system.

I was one of the four people running the line in Anaheim 1. At five p.m., a guy showed up that pushed to the front. I and the others tried to ask him to go back in line. He started cursing at me and the security came. He thought I was going to be told off by security that I had no say in the matter. That guy was dragged off the property by police. Security told the fans running the line that we were doing the right thing.

One person cutting does make a difference because it makes it all right for anyone else to do the same.

what my point is:

numbering systems should work as long as others don't work against them

I like a loose GA line system. If people complain and someone does not have a number, writes a fake number on their hand or is not on the list. I think we should just heckle them to get out of the GA line. Chicago #2 and Philly #1 I did it and those lazy assholes got out of line. :D

Agree strongly with Ruff, Chizip, Jules, et al.

There are approximately 50,000 things I could be doing the days of the shows. If I'm that ardent of a fan that I'm willing to turn my life upside down to be there early, do I deserve a spot up front? Damn right I do.

Do those who can't be there early have reason to tell me that the things that kept them away early in the day take priority over the things that I've rearranged, and as such, they deserve a spot ahead of me, even though I've put the hours in line in and they haven't? I don't think so.

If I'm willing to put several very important things in my life on hold to be there, and I see someone waltz into line ahead of me, hours later, I'll be pissed. Bottom line.

If security has not announced and organised a system, I think it is very uncivil not to let friends let each other in line as long as the other fans around are told about it. All the fans should be cool with the idea that not everyone can be in line all the time.

If a fan is willing to come real early they should be able to have a friend along with them later.

There are all sorts of reasons why another fan can't be there straight off e.g ticket not available until the day of the concert, travelling from abroad, health reasons... You should be cool with letting them in as one day you may need the same favour back.

If the lottery system introduced in the US and the GA line does not work well enough I guess that only have seating is the other option and I'm sure no-one wants that.

twice someone tried to cut in front of the fan-organized and security backed numbering system on the 5/14 Philly GA line, where i was 91st on line, and got so badly sunburned waiting outside all day that two months later you could still see the outline of the 9 and the 1 on the back of my left hand.

the first was some bald guy in a redish/orangish shirt, the second was a mother/daughter combo... both attempted to cut in front of everybody to get towards the front of the line, both were booed, ridiculed and chanted at until security finally came over and escorted them to the back of the line. i didn't get buzzed into the ellipse, but i did manage to snag the last possiable rail spot... all the way in the corner. if just one person had cut me in line, i wouldn't have gotten that spot. a handful of people cutting in line makes no difference to those who were first through say 50th in line... but it damn sure makes a difference to those who were 75 to 125 in line. one person means the difference between a rail spot and being stuck behind someone.

my next GA experience was a few days later in new jersey... we didn't feel like waiting in line all day, so we just tried to get buzzed in... didn't happen, so we just chilled back by the soundbooth rather than attempt to either a) cut the line, or b) push our way towards the front... because we thought people who did that were a-holes.

if you let one person cut the line, even if they have a legit reason for not being there all day, what stops everyone else from being able to cut in front, also? so rather than making exceptions for a person here and a person there, i'd just prefer it to be a no cutting no matter what policy. you want a spot by the rail? show up early. can't show up early and/or don't want to? take your chance at getting buzzed into the ellipse, otherwise just hang out by the soundbooth.

best case scenario would be if arena security and/or u2's staff handled the entire thing from start to finish. but PM doesn't want to, and the majority of arenas don't want to be bothered with the aditional task, so a fan organized line is the next best thing. last thing we want is a bunch of people just milling around waiting for the arena doors to open, followed by a mad rush... that's when cincinatti's happen...

Sorry, but that's just tough luck. I'm travelling to wait in line, my boyfriend who will be camping out w/ me has a serious health condition (seizure disorder), I'm missing school, we're both missing work, etc. If you can't be there, you can't be there, period. That's life.

I'd like to see the fans that ARE willing to let random people come at 5pm and cut into the first 100 in line. Everyone keeps saying, "it's OK if the people around are cool with it" but in my experience, I've never seen anyone that's cool with it. I'm not cool with it, I think it's rude and disrespectful. Asking is OK, but if someone asks me if it's OK if their friends cut in later on, I'll say "no way!" :D

I guess the part that I don't understand is how anyone would think its okay to not have to wait in line and then be able to cut in front of the people who have been waiting.

How in the world can anyone say its fair or acceptable to cut in front of people who have been waiting all day?

Someone explain it to me please.

I understand the not being able to wait all day. That's perfectly understandable to me, but the part where you can cut in front of the people that have waited all day is the part that throws me off.
