i love the idea of them playing with Paul McC but I don't think they'll play Crumbs

Bono has already said that he wants to play crumbs at it, the reason for not playing is because its the most important song they've ever written in wanting to get a message across, its about Africa AIDS etc. which in turn also is Live8 so it makes perfect sence that they will...

That sounds right.....I seen the official poster for Live 8 today and it had all the G8 world leaders dressed up in Sgt Pepper outfits so there is definately a Sgt Pepper theme.

This will be interesting

"SIR Paul McCartney and the Irish rock group U2, dressed in Sgt Pepper costumes, are due to open next weekend’s Live 8 concerts singing “It was 20 years ago today” — a reference to the Live Aid concert of 1985. "

I'm trying hard to picture them in those outfits!

Hey, there's the PINK FLOYD set

- Breathe
- Comfortably Numb
- Wish You Were Here

I LOVE  the idea of Madonna and Sting together, but hey, I can't ask for more...

PS: a radio here in Chile WILL broadcast LIVE 8 :dancing: :hyper: :combust:

U2 are opening Live 8 with Paul McCartney and will be performing Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. After that, Paul McCartney will leave the stage and, according to Bono's very good mate, Neil McCormack (who wrote I Was Bono's Doppelganger aka Killing Bono), U2 will kick into Beautiful Day.

What follows Beautiful Day remains a secret, but I'll take a shot at One being played, followed by either COBL or Vertigo to finish the set off.

They'll play Vertigo, Streets, Beautiful Day and One. Going on current form they'll probably play Vertigo again at the end.

will i can tell you each artist is only getting 15MINS
and theres a revolving stage incase anyone runs there time!

so that leaves 3 songs for each Artist

my guess now for the short set list

1.U2+Sir paul McCartney->st pepper (it was 20 years ago today)
reference to live Aid 1985

2. Vertigo->the single/the tour

3. Streets->( with talking about making poverty history+africa)

on my ticket is says from 2pm till 8pm 6hrs total so for london
get your VCR/DVD Recorder ready

If they have 15 mins, they could probably play 4 songs. It just depends on which songs they choose of course...

And I can't see them playing Vertigo twice during a 3-4 song set... During a 2 hour show, well that's completely different. ;)

So here's my prediction:

1. Bad
2. Crumbs From Your Table
3. One

Note:
1. A nod to Live Aid.
2. A great way to debut Crumbs, and lyrically it's a perfect match!
3. Because of the One Campaign, and due to the lyrics' unifying message.

maybe BD is pushing the envelope, but I'm so positove about this... :hyper:

If it's true that McCartney will only play two songs - Pepper and Long and Winding Road - then U2 definitely won't get more than 3 songs.

I think there's no doubt that the following 3 are virtual "locks":
1. Street- Written by Bono during his time in Ethiopia
2. One - the One Campaign
3. Crumbs - We all know why

The fourth is anyone's guess though I think It'll be a faster paced song like BD, COBL, IWF, UTEOTW, or vertigo.l

1. Sgt. Pepper (Confirmed)
2. Beautiful Day (More or less confirmed)
3. Pride (Confirmed by Bono)
4. Streets or One (Depends on their mood, think One will win)

bono has also pretty much confirmed crumbs though?

Sgt. Pepper's (already confirmed)

Beautiful Day (a huge recent song for them)

Pride (they didn't play it the first time, so Bono will say something about that, plus the message)

Streets (one of their biggest ever hits, plus message)

Vertigo (their current anthem, leaving on a high note and making it hard for whoever follows them to upstage)

once again...

Sgt Pepper's
Beautiful Day
Pride
Where The Streets Have No Name
One
Crumbs From Your Table

Don't come tell me later that I didn't warned you :sexywink:

Well seeing that set list, even taking Sgt Pepper out of the equation (as it's being performed with Paul McCartney), would hit over the half an hour mark, I'd say that's probably not going to be the set, although it would be nice
