I see your point (I think) I think it works/worked better when Bono intro's it like he did during some of the HTDAAB promo appearances.

Yup. I think Bono's long winded ramblings over the riff sometimes harm the song. It drags it out too long. The same thing is happening with One. That riff gets played too much and you just get over it. Me at least. I'm sure if you are there its a non-issue.

You know, now that I think about it, back during the Elevation tour, my friend grabbed Bono's hand and I managed to touch Bono's finger tips during Until the End of the World during the first Atlanta show. Within the next week, we both came down with the infamous "lung fungus of '01" that lasted something like 3 months.
