Well, I do have a biased opinion, as I've only ever been to one show, but I'll have a go. Croker III. I'm surprised no-one has mentioned it yet.
- Having Gloria in the setlist near the start was a real shocker. Never imagined I'd hear it. Of course, it was totally brilliant.
- An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart. Again, another I never thought I'd hear. Very cool. And then it lead into...
- Beautiful Day. A song played at every show, but one that really got the crowd going. Singing ond dancing with this random girl in GA - not something I'd usually do!
- Original of the Species. Again, another I didn't expect to hear, ever. Lovely tune.
-Still Haven't Found - the stadium just erupted when this started up. Again, I don't think this was played too often at the start of leg 2. And at the end when the crowd were still singing as Bono was talking, and he stopped to let us finish - brilliant.
- Bad. OMFG. Earlier I had been talking to my mate about Bad. He didn't know what I was talking about, but once I started to sing it [badly] he knew what I was on about. Anyway, I explained we were unlikely to see it, as it was really rare in Europe this tour. So, when I heard the "bells" at the start [ or maybe the guitar riff...] I turned round and shouted "IT'S BAD!!!" Absolutely awesome, awesome tune, having Dirty Old Town in the middle made it just perfect.
- COBL - great stadiumj anthem. And, of course, the song the screen kicks into.
- LAPOE - freakin' awesome, especially with Bono KICKING ARSE on the drums. And of course, this starts the concert proper, leading us into..
- Sunday Bloody Sunday. As you can imagine, being an Irish crowd, the place just erupts. NO MORE!
- Bullet the Blue Sky. Now, I had never heard a live version of this tune before the concert. I'd heard Edge had a brilliant solo in the middle, but had never heard it before. Needless to say, it wasn't a bad place to be introduced to it!
- Running to Stand Still - lovely tune, snippets of Walk On and singing Happy Birthday to Ang Sang Suki (?) were classic.
- Pride. This is something you guys just won't like, but I fucking loved this from start to finish. And I cannot why people don't like this as an intro to...
- Streets, the chanting really works. Anyway, this was a song I was
so looking forward to. But I was worried that it wouldn't live up to my giant-sized expectations. After the intro, the rest is a blur. I'm fairly sure I enjoyed it though.
- One. It had the phones, the "Hear me coming Lord" verse, and Unchained Melody. I was happy.
- Zoo Station. Oh dear, the only song I was disappointed with all night. Well, I say "disappointed", I really loved it. But I was so looking forward to something similar to the album version - I'd never heard a live version of it before. It seemed too crisp or something, not enough distortion. But the whole fog/awesome screen graphics was great.
- The Fly - ah, back to total awesomeness. Again, really cool graphics, and the greatest version of the song I've ever heard.
- WOWY. Great song, the girl who was picked was only a few yeards away from me. I was, of course, reaching out for Bono to pick me, until I realised he was looking for a girl!
- Vertigo II - A real rocker, especially the second time. In my head at the very start, I was thinking: "Aww crap, Vertigo 2. I thought we'd get something cool". That was until I caught myself on and rocked out LIKE A MOFO. Stories for Boys snipped was freakin' brilliant, and suited so well [the bass lines are virtually identical, aren't they?]. And so they left the stage. Great show I thought. Brilliant show. Of course, Vertigo II was only a diversion, seeing as it led to...
- Yahweh - nice song, didn't care too much for it. But this led into...
- 40. One of the highlights of the night. I nearly went mad when they played it. How long to sing this song indeed, Bono. Continued for minutes after.
In fact, was that the only show with 2 Vertigos and a non-Vertigo closer. Thought that was brilliant.
Of course, there were other, non-song related things. Like when Adam looked RIGHT AT ME. I, shocked by this, just looked away, then looked back. Of course, by then he was just being too cool to care about me.
BTW, sorry this ended up as a song-by-song review of the show, I just loved it so much. Hoping to go to Portland this tour too, hoping to get GA and hoping the experience is half as good as Croker III was.
