if this is posted somewhere already, forgive me, and point me to the coorect thread BUT
I just read in SPIN that in the deal with APPLE was the purchase of concerts on ITUNES?
Is this confirmed? Or was it speculation on Bono's part (the interview was moments before or after the deal, a few months ago)
And do you think it would be per song, or only entire concert purchases.
I am going to go broke next year either way.

Its not confirmed as in concrete, but its no secret that Bono has stated in a variety of places that the concerts would be available on I-Tunes shortly after the performance.

I think it will be priced per whole concerts, its a new area for I-Tunes so we wont really know until the time comes.

I "thought" I heard him say that the concerts would be free!!!!

hmmm, judging by the schedule the whole purpose of the tour will be to make as much money as possible - that North America will have more shows than the rest of the world combined illustrates this. Do you really think that the U2 management will give away these for free?????

There's no way in hell any of it will be free off of iTunes, but considering the generosity of the people in this forum.....you'll be able to get them for free.

I wonder if maybe they could be free to those who attended the concert. that would be kind of cool.
like "entire the barcode on your ticket" type thing.
I don't know, just thinking/daydreaming outloud.

But yeah, I'm sure (at least I hope) that every single one of them will be online in this great great community!

It would be cool to get them for free if you attend the concert, like an extra service...but from the other hand...imagine you tried everything but you couldn't get tjose damn wanted tickets...and to get things worse you also have to pay to hear the concert!!

should be free for everyone...

No way any of this is going to be free if it happens. Seriously, did anyone at the 2nd Slane 01 show get a free copy?? NO, its a business, they will do this to make money and make fans happy.

The Pixies were selling CD's of their show through Disclive this tour. You could get the cds right after the show or have them mailed to you. Of course The Pixies only made 1000 of each show and U2 would need a hell of a lot more but its a great idea thats a win/win for fans and the band.

Disclive charged $20 at first so the band makes good money from the cds plus the fans get the shows they want to listen to.

maybe they would have it if was Video Tunes.....

agreed though, its unlikley to be free.

My Id wants to spend all my money buying up all the 2005 concerts off iTunes.
My Superego knows I'd go broke and shouldn't do it
My Ego sides with my Id and doesn't care about spending all that money for the 2005 tour mp3s

Actually, what Bono said was "And next year, you will be able to go to a U2 show and download the concert onto your iPod." (Spin magazine, Dec. issue, p. 64). No idea if they plan to charge for this or provide it free for fans, no idea yet if it's iPod only or if any old mp3 player will do... but fantastic idea, eh?
