just read over on atu2's blog that there was about 1000 empty seats around the place, if not more,

is this true? does this reflect on U2's popularity in the U.S.?

All seats were sooooold out. People are just clamouring for tickets, you won't believe it. Honestly! U2 BOOSTS TOURISM. People travel across states to watch U2 in the US. I have considered crossing continents to watch them. "Yes, I'm about to catch a 14 hour flight to Portland to watch U2 soon"

I came over from Australia for the first 6 shows...and others have gone to Boston, New York ect.

It shows how many tickets were in the hands of the scalpers. Maybe they were unable to sell.

Revisiting Popmart?

Wow, that is exactly what it means. This tour is a failure because there were some empty seats at the Vegas show! My God they should cancel the rest of the tour! I'm assuming you were joking and so am I. At least I hope you were joking.

Every show has soldout. Last night was as well. U2 collected all their money, sounds like some people didnt show and/or scalpers overestimated what they could scalp at ridiculous prices.

No, it reflects on the power of gambling. People were stuck on the slot machines or crap tables. ;)

Every ticket that went on sale to the public sold out. I hear a lot of the "high roller" seats set aside went unclaimed though, that and the unbought scalper seats (seems like a lot of tix dropped yesterday, hence the scalpers took a bath) would account for the empties...

A quick count on ticketsnow shows 326 tickets currently listed for tonight's show. I'm kind of surprised the prices haven't dropped lower. Also, there are 2 tickets available for Monday night's show!!

Yep. I tried to get tickets via ticketmaster a few months ago, because I figured these would be cool shows to go to, but I was never able to.

Its Vegas. As someone else pointed out the major hotels there get a percentage of the tickets for any major event to have available to their high rollers. I'm sure its a large part of why there were empty seats.

I have friends, myself included who have been looking for decent seats for months. I was not willing to pay triple face-quadruple face for a seat!

So last night there must have a drip. Maybe it is the high rollers who did not want the seats. Or maybe, the scalpers were asking for too much.

 I couldn't get tickets to the Dallas show (Where I live!) Amazingly enought I got tickets to the September 21st show with my friend (Quiggs)! If they did go back to Europe! Amsterdam here I come!! :eyebrow: :lmao:

To answer the original question, all seats for all shows in the U.S. have been technically sold out. That means U2 has already received all the money for each seat at every U2 Vertigo Tour 3rd leg concert in the U.S. at face value.

When you see a bunch of empty seats in an arena, it is usually because scalpers and ticket brokers bought the tickets and tried to get too much for them. However, as usual, Vegas is different. As others have stated, there are special "high roller" seats for events like a U2 concert that may have not been filled. I'm guessing it is the casinos that take a bath on those. Either way, U2 got their money and the concert is "sold out".

Just go to U2.com and check out the TOUR DATES section and it will show what shows are sold out. And after looking at this, they all have sold out! i guess like the others have said, some ppl probably didnt show up for any number of reasons.

The people next to me for Saturday night's show had "vip" tickets. They left before the first encore because one of them had "gotten backstage" whatever that may have meant. The guy was talking to someone else on the phone and claimed the tickets were "from the band" which was hilarious since these four folks sitting next to me three rows from the top of the arena only recognized Vertigo, SBS and BD. The seat in front of me was empty for the entire show.

I think all this supports the high roller theory of ticket distribution. The numbskulls next to me missed the best part of the show to go eat stale snacks backstage. Not a choice I would have made.

PS: The total price for my ebay single, including postage was $70. The face value was $99.75. Scalpers can go fuck themselves.
