In light of the impressive audience participation events in Poland and Italy last month, I thought I might try to organize a similar kind of happening at the Las Vegas shows this November.

The idea I have will require at least 30 volunteers who would be willing to spend about $10 each to make this thing work. The more volunteers, the better, of course. Preferably, all volunteers will need GA Floor tickets, but it's not necessary. Hardly any work will be needed to get this off the ground, but we will need enthusiasm and an ability to "sell".

This idea might be a total flop, especially in Vegas, where concert crowds tend to be very lame, but if it doesn't work there, perhaps the idea will catch on and work at the Oakland shows or the Portland show.

To get an estimate of how many of us are actually going to Las Vegas, and to help others who are thinking about going there with hotel accommodations, please post the following:

Are you going to one or both shows?

Do you have tickets, yet? Where are they?

When will you arrive in Las Vegas?

Where will you stay and how much per night?

Once we have a sizable list of hardcore U2 fans, I'll get in touch with everyone to begin working on this plan. I'll need a lot of input and opinions on it, too (which will cause a lot of healthy debate) so hopefully everyone can contribute something useful and make the Las Vegas shows legendary and the most sought-after downloads of the entire Vertigo Tour.

Anyone planning on taping these shows, either audio or video, will need a heads-up on our plan, too, since it will alter their normal taping patterns.

I'll go first:

Going to both shows, no ticket yet for Friday (trying to get a GA), one ticket for Saturday - Section L14, twelve rows from Adam

Arriving LV Wednesday night, staying at the Motel 6 across the street from the MGM Grand for $79 a night.

For reference, here's a seating chart of the MGM Grand Garden Arena:

If we can get this plan to work, the boys will be completely blown away by us, and maybe reward us with a rendition of 'Crumbs' or "Trip Through Your Wires".

Cheers, Nick

Uhm, not going to LV.
Wanna go to Oakland.
But don't have tickets yet.
Looking and waiting till the last minute for that.
Any way, I'm curious to hear what your idea might be.
'Cause you forgot the mention that in your post above.
Although I assume you left it out on purpose.

I'm Arriving Las Vegas Thursday and departing Sunday. Don't have a Friday ticket yet, but would love a GA or good reserved. I have a GA for Saturday already. I don't have a hotel reservation yet, but would like a decent strip hotel under $250 per night.

indeed. asking for ten dollars from thirty people?

$300 for what?

i live in las vegas, and have tickets for both nights

but sorry, i'm too "lame" to be interested in whatever you're up to

I want to go to both shows. If it's possible then I would go to both.

I was waiting to order tickets online on my birthday April 16th, but wasn't able to get one ticket. Am hoping I will find a ticket broker for a GA or from a scalper. Or if I get lucky, by Ticketmaster or Box Office.

Arriving November 3rd until the 9th. Staying at my condo.

Then taking off from Vegas to Miami for both Miami shows.

*Sorry but I have my own private plan with my family and friends and I have a lot of people rooting for me to try to get a dance with Bono.

And what is the money for?

:eyebrow:

I'm not going to cough up 10 clams until I know why.

martha, you always crack me up

i'm going for both nights.
don't have my airfare yet though
probably a cheap hotel, off the strip. i did that last time and it was really decent.
i'm listening for your idea...

Update for me in Vegas. Staying at the MGM Grand! I have a suggestion for anyone with lots of American Express Membership Rewards miles - they have rooms available for 20,000 points a night. As far as frequent flyer miles, I believe that is a good deal. The rate that I would have had to pay at the time I booked through Membership rewards was $289 per night. To get the rooms, you have to be persistent. They are not always offering rooms at the MGM for points because they are fairly booked up that weekend due to U2 and other conventions going on at that time, but be persistent. I tried 3 times in the last 2 weeks and the first 2 times got shot down as soon as they call the hotel to confirm. Luckily, yesterday I got a great rep at Amex and they got me in!!

I'll be arriving in Vegas on November the 3rd and will be staying at the MGM. My brother who is a professor in Hotel and Restaurant Management at Kansas State got me and my friend a room for $69 Thursday night and $159.00 for Friday and Saturday nights. He knows an alumni there.

I'm like Martha. Will is the $10.00 for?

I'd like to know what the Big Plan is also and more importantly what the ten bucks is for.....

As for me, I'll be with a group of friends, meeting most there but I'm driving up Thurs. from San Diego. We're meeting friends flying in Th. afternoon, leaving Sun. We're staying at the Imperial Palace ($149, $109,$109 for a room 6 are sharing). We have GA for Fri show and behind the stage seats for Sat. I may have an extra ticket for both nights, single seat. We have plans set for that w/e, and my friends U2 Tribute band are inking a gig for Thurs night. I will keep you all posted.

Karen

My friend and I will be there. Just today I canceled our room at IP and got one at Paris. We have seats for Friday and don't have tickets for Saturday.

What is the plan? :eyebrow:

:hyper: I wish it was THIS weekend! :hyper:

Too much! .... but after reading some reviews of Imperial Palace at Trip advisor and other places :yikes: I was running to the arms of Paris. :lmao:

Yeah I know exactly what you mean about some of the reviews....I am concerned about the elevator issue! I did find available rooms for $149 at Emerald Suites on Tropicana which would be perfect for the friends and I but I think we will stay put. I got the IP for $109 and $65 Sun night. I like its location.

The IP is not that bad. I say this realizing that 6 people are staying in your room. I assume that your objective is to just have a place to laydown and be able to shower. Decent sized room and a great location. Plus they have a great "night owl" special in the Tea Room Cafe. The only drawback in my opinion is it always seems smokey. I am staying next door at Harrah's $139, $139, and Sunday Free. I frequent Harrah's and the Rio so they give me room deals.

Hey thanks, I appreciate your firsthand comments, I really do. There is smoke everywhere in Vegas, since I am not a smoker it is bothersome but a way of life there....it is what it is....and yes the room is really only for sleep and showers. Thanks for the tip on the Tea Room.....and I do really like the location. Harrahs is not bad at $139 and the free night! Hmmmmm......nah I am not going to change. So wave when you go past the IP! Thanks again, man!

Its not in this post but I got room at the La Quinta Inn for $62 a night...its not a casino but its close to the MGM..and for the price, I'm saving money both ways...we'll be able to park our car and shuttle it... Still available as of right now for Fri 11/4 and Sat. 11/5

Room Type Rate Type Nightly Rate Total*

2 Queen Beds Nonsmoking Standard Rate $129.00 USD 2 nights.. 258.00 USD

1 King Bed Deluxe Nonsmoking... Standard Rate $119.00 USD 2 nights 238.00 USD

1 King bed Nonsmoking Standard Rate $99.00 USD 2 nights..198.00 USD

We got ours at $62 a night for a Non-smoking King....but they had an LQ Exclusive at that time...good luck.

$139 is a great deal.

harrah's just bought IP last week. maybe now you'll get good deals there, too.

I am happy with IP at $149, $109, $109, $65 for the 4 nights split 5 or 6 ways....not bad at all. Just napping and showering there basically. I still like the location best. I've always liked Harrah's, interesting that they've bought the IP.....thanks for the info.
