What if U2 would do a concert where they would play 3 complete albums and a couple of encores. The cure did this a year (maybe 2 years) ago and it was increbible. they started with ponography, the diintergration and the last one was bloodflowers.

Which 2 U2 albums would you pick (other than HTDAAB which is the new album so they would have to play that) and which let's say 3 encores...

mine would be:

Unforgettable Fire
Achtung baby
HTDAAB

encores:
Elec. co
Night and day
Streets

would be amazing don't you think..not that it will EVER happen of course

Yeah, I've been thinking about that.

For me:

The Joshua Tree
Achtung Baby
How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb

Encore:
Dirty Day
Gone
11 O'Clock Tick Tock
The Electric Co.
"40"

Suede (called London Suede in USA) did some thing like this 18months ago.

They did a week of small shows, each show was based upon one particular album, I believe that they playd every album track, and every b-side that week.

I woyuld love to see U2 do something similar, but concentrating on just 3 albums:

October
War
(as a lot of these songs I have never heard live)

Joshua Tree
(my favourite album, and the tour that converted me to being such a fan of U2 live)

HTDAAB
Achtung Baby
POP (Would love to hear some songs of POP making it to the current tour)

encore:

Exit (live such a great song)
Stay
Hawkmoon 269

boy
achtung baby
how to dismantle an atomic bomb

encore:
please
gloria
with or without you
new year's day
bad

STREET MISSION!!! it would never happen but whatever. it's still an awesome song. but, live, they would have to cut down the 2 minute guitar solo. :edge: :shh:

Interesting idea. would never happen though.

They would have to play

JT, AB, and whatever their latest album is.

Hell, when The Cure were in Australia about 3 or so years ago, they went further than that! They played well over 2 hours and went backwards in time, playing songs off all their albums, way back to their first.

(I was with a group of friends sitting up in the arena in Sydney and by the end I was the only one of us still singing along - I've been a Cure fan for too many years!!! )

The whole Cure thing made sense though because those three albums form a trilogy of sorts in theme and atmosphere. Bono has talked about HTDAAB being a return to the beginning. They are playing a lot of Boy songs on this tour, so pairing those two albums together in their entirety is a somewhat interesting concept. But then what do you pick to fill out the trilogy? It becomes an JT/AB holy war. And then having to fill in misc hits in an encore, it just gets way too bloated. Cool idea though.

A couple of months ago, someone posted saying that they were in the know and U2 was thinking about playing the entire Atomic Bomb then they would take a break then come back a play couple of more songs (greatest hits?).

Anyway, the posts after that were negative of the idea. I thought it was a great idea myself. I thought for a couple of nights Atomic Bomb and greatest hits, a couple of nights of Atomic Bomb and the entire JT or Atomic Bomb and B sides. They wouldn't get bored and the audience wouldn't get bored.

Too bad that our boys aren't in the "scare the hell out of them" business.

Just for the hell of it, I'd like to see the 90s trilogy performed straight through, with one song dividing each set and then the encore.

So it'd be:

So Cruel
The Fly
Mysterious Ways
Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around the World
Ultra Violet (Light My Way)

Dream Set

Before the tour started, I was playing around with a dream set. I tried to take into account the songs they would have to play both from the past and present. Here's what I came up with then. This is before they started playing a lot of tracks from Boy...
