brutal.

honestly, when 90 per cent of the threads in lemonade stand possess absolutely NO creativity, are void of any individual thought and serve no purpose other than to satisfy some cliques routine of habit, perhaps they should have their own special forum where they can freely describe the person sitting on top of them, talk about what they had for lunch three days ago, or heaven help me - randomize categorize and illigitamize their pointless posting experience.

while i know these chain threads are important to some people, i propose the following compromise...

at another message board i used to frequent, these types of threads were thrown into a new forum where they were allowed to continue without cluttering the other general space. this created the perfect compromise, most agreed.

is this something that we could work with?

it seems there's countless individual forums for everything, why not another for chain threads? i for one would like that.

i posted this in the Get the Games out of the B&C thread, but I took a snapshot of the lemonade stand today

LS.jpg

the top 7 threads were either games or chat threads, its starting to get a bit ridiculous

I have to say, deathy, when you post about cliques in Lemonade Stand, I hear something that sounds an awful lot like a pot bitching about a kettle...

I think LS is exactly what the majority of people who post there want it to be. In the Lypton Village forum there are already seperate sections for sports, music (other than U2), TV/movies, war, and politics/religion/sociological discussions -- it doesn't really leave all that much to discuss in the main LS section. So I can't see the purpose in creating yet another forum.

And no one is prevented from starting new threads which interest them...if they drop off the first page or so, just bump them back up (as I keep doing with my ode to bands which aren't likely to carry their own thread here thread :D ).

oh pardon me?

i have no problems with cliques - NONE.

if you want to nitpick over my poor choice of words, then this is pointless.

my POINT was more than obvious and deserves discussion.

if this indeed is to be the policy then look out, cause an enema will be coming through where a TON of new threads will be posted...by me.

but of course, i won't because i know better.

everyone go to ateaseweb.com and see what they did with their superthreads.

tell me why we can't do the same thing? it's a COMPROMISE, everyone wins.

Aye, but it's maybe not really cool to accuse people of creating pointless threads centered around cliques when the very same could be said about you, Kieran, Bassy...none of whom, including you, I have a problem with. Your threads, or theirs, don't bother me in the least. But could we assume that YOUR threads would then be moved to this new forum, too?

i knew this would come up, and it's a fair question.

but they're not the same thread. they may deteriate into what is deemed by "outsiders" as pointless drivel, which it mostly is i guess, but every thread started is at least unique.

that's what separates those threads from the ten billionth version of "random".

disclaimer: while i am a mod of LS, this is just me weighing in as a member.

i think there's a big difference between the chat threads and the game threads. hell, even chizip  pointed out which threads were which in his pic earlier.

this may seem contradictory, but i don't have a problem with the chat threads. the chat threads being octagon bar and randoom. the game threads are getting out of hand, though. the chat threads are still just limited to two. however, the game threads keep increasing in number and seem to be about increasingly more pointless things each time a new one is created.

name game...ehh okay. a lot of us played that as kids. food game? that's cute. however now there is sports, describe the person above you (how does one learn anything about someone else? i suppose you've got to do some sleuthing or outright guessing to be able to come up with these facts), etc.

and deathbear, your point isn't really valid, as the ten billionth version of random is as unique as one of yours or keiran's new threads. the only difference is random's new threads will always contain the word "random" in it.

i disagree completely with that last statement.

i explained why i feel as much earlier.

so at the very least, we can agree that the game threads are out of hand.

what are you gonna do about it?

yes, this is a good idea.

i realize i'm still probably considered a newbie around here, and should reserve judgement but...

LS has become a breeding ground for these pointless threads. like i said in the 'bang & clatter' thread, they're easy enough to ignore. but they're fucking multiplying exponentially. next week we'll have to go to page 4 to find anything interesting worth replying to.

i'll never understand why people come here just to play these games. there are other sites for that!

please consider a separate forum.

I do not believe in rating the worthiness of a thread. No poster/post/thread is more important/original/worthy than any other.

The way I see it there are a number of types of threads:

- chat threads - cliques socialising in one distinct thread,
- game threads - cliques socialising in one distinct thread, mixed genders
- horn locking threads - cliques socialising in many threads. eg The North American Boys, The English Boys, and The Irish Boys (for want of descriptions)

If all the (female) chat, (mixed gender) game, and (male) horn locking threads were moved to another forum there would be very little left in Lemonade Stand.

Yes, I've made sweeping generalisations here, so what?

I was just about to create a thread exactly like this one.

As someone who posts in the game threads regularly, I agree with Zoomerang. I think adding a seperate forum where Zoo Station, B&C, and PEUP are is the best way of resolving this.

It cleans up LS a bit, and keeps all the games still intact. I don't see any bad points to it. I think it would make everyone involved happy.

Good call, Zoomerang.

We had this discussion before. Many times. We had a poll to move the game/chat threads to their own forum, no one wanted that. No one will ever be happy no matter what happens around here.

And Zoomerang, I dont see how your threads are different from anyone else's that you are bitching about. What might be a great thread to one person, might be shit on a stick to another. This is why you open threads that interest you, and pass up the ones that dont. Should be very simple but never seems to be.

Bear, I hear you on your request and agree.

I will say I tend to favor certain threads started by certain site members over others. So I guess I have my own little clique that I am drawn to and who is in that clique? Probably the X crew :sexywink:

I have learned to just scroll down to the bottom of pg 1 or go to pg 2 in the LS to find something that I would like to read and respond to. I just avoid the other ones however I do read them from time to time because I am naturally a nosey fucker .

You must be one very talented woman!

when was there a poll about that? i must have missed it.

and if you can't see how my threads are different from "one word game" or "test7e", then wow.

not saying those are all necessarily bad threads, but they're not the same.

at least zoomerangs threads get bumped off the first page after a day or so

I think we should start a support group thread in LS.
