The more I thought about it, the more I realized that the amount of times these smilies are used anyway in each thread would have already put them in cache and wouldn't increase bandwidth much.

However, I have now just changed the amount displayed by default to 10 instead of 25, in order to not increase the 'hit' load on the server too much - not to mention it looks better for the Quick Reply box.

It's not that I hate the normal reply. But why go to a separate page (not always that great when you're on dial-up) when you can reply immediately? And now with the smilies screen I have even less reason to go to a separate page.
