Oh, zoney - if you can't swing the Rangers tix, the Islander's tix are ALWAYS available.

TWICE I have been home for a holiday or something and I have cruised out to Nassau to see an Isles game (I grew up five miles from Meadowlands/Brendan Byrne/Continental Airlines Arena). No offense, but Nassau is the dumpiest pro sporting venue in the country. But gotta love the Isles.

MIKE: I would love to go to the Rangers. You + Dave + me + Megan = 4!?

Ewen, if there is a match what time would it be at?

The usual time for a league match in the UK on a Saturday is 3pm (GMT), so it'll be 10am over here for the kick-off! Which I admit is probably a little too early to be in a pub for most people. With it being a league game, there'll be no extra time played so it'll be wrapped up by noon.

:uhoh:

Maybe none of you remember the journal posting I used to have in there. I had a dream, for some reason Mr. Baw was in it. At another point in the dream, I was naked. I don't remember much more than that, but that's the jist.

Just so you're all clear.:yikes:

Reading that made me less clear than I've ever been in my life, but, then again, it's 2:15am. But still.

Dave is a maybe. But, consider you and me and Meg in....and there might be 2 more. I'll start the ball rolling on getting tickets tomorrow, will try to get 6, just in case.....

No offense taken. I wouldn't care if they played in a barn in Piscataway at this point, just so long as they'd make the playoffs. ANd it is a dump. I have partial season tix and that place is exactly the same as it was when I saw the circus in 81 when I was 7*. But they are rebuilding, as soon as people STFU and stop bitching about have some angle of a building facing the wrong star and thus offending someone or causing cancer. SHould be nice(r) when it's done.

* dates are made up. I was little and the place smelled like shit. Still sort of does.

Since we're a million miles now from our beloved Penguins (the ickle WBS Penguins of the AHL that is) we've been considering becoming Islanders fans.

Maybe I should of had you dancing around Mr BAW in that Family Guy picture instead of the girls!

Statue of Liberty is cooler to do then the ESB. And it's not really out of the way, you take a ferry from Manhattan, but it does take an hour at least.

Also, the airports are a bit away from Manahttan, both are in Queens (Newark is in New Jersey). And there's no real mass transit to either. The subway to JFK sucks. You can take the Long Island RailRoad to JFK, but I don't know the schedules. LaGuardia is even more of a pain. Cabs are your best bet to any three airports. Without traffic, 20 - 30 minutes tops. With traffic...lol.

touche' my friend... mass transit from newark and JFK is quite easy now with the AirTrain...

From JFK - http://www.panynj.gov/airtrain/

From Neark - http://www.panynj.gov/airtrainnewark/

but, alas, mass transit from LaGuardia is still non existant... i believe it's a $40 dollar flat rate cab ride from any of the airports to anywhere in midtown manhattan. AirTrain/LIRR (or NJ Transi) connection is just as fast and much less expensive.

Enjoy the sports and the shopping and the shows, people. I will be in a bar, drunk in the corner, weeping over what might have been and swearing vengenace on those that wronged me. THAT's how you celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Like a man.

Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day!

 no reason why i can't do that in a place with a television sit :madspit:

i shall not be participating in the rangers game though because hockey is for communists.

...i'll be off drinking... the fact that bars have TVs is just an added bonus

that's why I'm going to a pub to watch the football...I don't want to be stuck in an arena on St Patrick's Day. I understand for the out-of-towners wanting to take the opportunity to go see the Rangers or whoever but for me personally, since I'm living here, I just want to socialise...and get drunk!

exactly.

normaly when people ask me in the days that follow st. patrick's day where i went, the answer usually contains the bar where i started the day, one or two bars in the middle, where ever i woke up and skips the 5-6 other bars in the middle that i have no recolection of ever visiting.

Ah, in that case I'll be doing likewise...I forgot about the parade and would rather see that.
