Bono and Duffy Legless at Lillies

What with it being the Silly Season everyone and their sister is out on the town enjoying a few well-deserved Christmas drinks so why should celebs be any different?

Well they're not! The likes of Bono and Colin Farrell may enjoy the party lifestyle all-year-round but at least at Christmas they have a valid excuse to down their share of the black-stuff.

So it was almost heartwarming to see the U2 frontman full of merriment and cheer *hic* as he left Lillies Bordello in the early hours of the morning last weekend after a couple of days shooting a video in the capital.

It seems Mr. Hewson (up until now we thought had hallow legs) grabbed a few drinks with friends after shooting the vid for Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own. What with it being Christmas a few turned into one-too-many and the hardest working man in ShowBiz had to be helped to his waiting car by Lillies bouncer Anto.

We hope the hangover wasn't too bad Bono!

Also out in Lillies at the weekend was Coronation Street star Keith Duffy who was sporting the latest fashion accessory for the over 70s - a walking stick!

And no, Keith (unlike Bono) wasn't legless, he has in fact hurt his leg and is back in Dublin recuperating over Christmas - so we should see him back to his best in The Rovers in the new year...

At ShowBiz Ireland we just love this time of year ;) Ho ho ho!

I don't get you all. I think he looks pitiful. He probably REEKS and he's gonna go home to Ali??? Don't get me wrong - I love Bono SO MUCH, but I just don't like this picture at all. :slant:

listen, sorry if you dont think my post is proper but we were just commenting on a pic. thinking about what might happen afteward, like its personal to you, or that he needs your approval is a bigger invasion of someones private life. please, he's a guy leaving a PUB in DUBLIN. he IS human folks. its unfortunate there were cameras in his face at the time, but come on.

"What with it being the Silly Season everyone and their sister is out on the town enjoying a few well-deserved Christmas drinks so why should celebs be any different?" from above story^^^^

I think there's a middle ground here that many people are missing here.

First, Bono has as much right as anyone to OCCASIONALLY imbibe and enjoy himself - and he certainly looks like that's what he's doing in these pics.

That is harmless and we really don't have the right to interfere in his decision.

The issue I think some people may have is that Bono has admitted to some difficulties in handling his alcohol in the past (ten years or so), especially during times of extreme stress and disappointment (like the loss of his da).

If this was a "down" period in Bono's life I would be more concerned about this drinking "binge". But seeing how good things are right now in the B-man's life with his marriage, his career and even some major successes in the struggle against the AIDS pandemic, I'd say that Bono is in no imminent danger with his recent visit to Lillie's and that this was just in the spirit of celebrating with friends.

BUT TRY NOT TO DO THIS TOO OFTEN, BONO - otherwise some of us will become concerned.

GRACE FINDS BEAUTY IN EVERYTHING....:bono:

I agree.
I'm not saying he should never drink a drop of alcohol, but surely he doesn't need to do it to the point where he needs an escort.

OK. I knew there would be posts telling me to lighten up or whatever, but, the point I'm making is that it is not "cute" to see this man drunk enough to require an escort. I have had drink, just about everyone I know has had drink and I don't have anything against drink at all! I do have problems with drunkenness - and why is this the "silly" season? Drunkenness shows a total lack of control of oneself and, human or not, I did not think of Bono as being a man to lose control. NOTHING good comes from being drunk. Name ONE thing????? I can name tons of bad things. Yes, Bono is human and God Bless the man who has seen me through so many "human" times of my own, but Bono, or any one else being drunk (enough to have someone hold him up) is just plain pitiful. No - I am not an alcoholic, my family is free of alcoholism, this is not a personal experience - it's just my opinion, free of charge. I thought we could give opinions here without being.........

This was a just a party after a hard day's work. Bono doesn't drink when he has something important to do. He sticks to tea when he's writing a speech, in the studio, OK, someone gave him a Guinness during the NYC video shoot but he didn't get too impaired to do the free concert, obviously, he only does this in the right time and place. What someone does with their leisure time after so much hard work is their business. If he wants to drink Guinness after a day of music, politics, and all of the other seriously hard work he does, that's cool. The important thing isn't necessarily whether or not you drink. It's if you do it excessively rather than moderately.

Jaysus! Lighten up, folks!

Don't you think he told Ali beforehand that he was going out to party, and after all this time she certainly knows what he is like on these occasions and how to handle it family-wise? I'm sure she has a "strategy" for dealing with this, by now. She knows he's human and has to have an "out" once in a while, and INHO< I'd rather have my hubby get his "relief" by getting blind smashing drunk at a party once in a while that fooling around.witWe all know that there have been times when she has thrown him out of the house when he'd done things that got her upset. Do you think she woukd allow him to be around the girls like that??

I'm sure she either told him to stay in the Clarence that night , or sent the kids someplace, while they had aprovate night at home alone.

being what? i posted a silly comment along with a few other people and you are the one that said that you didnt "get us all". i'm merley trying to defend myself not attack you. all i was saying is that hes a grown man and is perfectly cappable of making his own decisions and even if it is the wrong one its no ones buisness to say so. no one even knows what is really going on in the pic because no one was there. so why are you all fired up about it?

Maybe it was because of the day's work...

"...It seems Mr. Hewson (up until now we thought had hallow legs) grabbed a few drinks with friends after shooting the video for Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own..."

Perhaps three long days of shooting this particular video, which probably involved singing this song to his Dad over 100 times, was reason enough for Bono to have one too many. We've heard all the stories behind the album title (Atomic "Bob"), how Bono was lost after his father passed away, how he drank too much and was "all messed up" for a while, etc.

I'm not trying to justify any type of abuse, but you never know the whole story, especially from a tabloid...

You know, sometimes I have these days where I am VERY opinionated and I can go on and on about morals and righteousness and etc etc....(drives my husband to the point of wanting to leave me!). Anyway, today is a new day and I read back and see what an ass I was yesterday! I'm sorry. Truly. My therepist told me I thrive on Kaos (Sp?) and I can only go a short time without it. If there is none, I will create it! Do you suppose she has something there? Again - I'm sorry.

oh dont even worry about it. everyone has those days . im sorry too. i usually ignore such silly stuff and its no big deal.
so vlasak i hope that you can find some peaceful days ahead and work everything out. but this is the last place that we should all find strees, agreed? so im sorry again!

so happy holidays to everyone!
