Stars Line-Up for Guggi Art

Former Virgin Prune and Bono's favourite drinking buddy Guggi continued his long standing obsession with all things bowl-like with a new star-studded exhibition at the Solomon Gallery.

Like all top artists around the world Irish painter Guggi understands that having a few celebrity chums turning up to the opening of your latest work will no doubt help shift a few canvases.

So with the star-studded turn-out he got with the opening of his "New Work" show in the Solomon Gallery last week there must have been very little left unsold as the last of the champagne was polished off.

Guggi's best mate is the biggest rock-star in the world but the noticeable absence of Bono was covered up by an appearance at the show by his wife Ali Hewson who raised the temperature a few degrees when she gave Guggi a lingering kiss on the cheek! Did we detect a slight blush on Guggi's face?

Sexy Ali wasn't the only star guest at the show, singer and art collector Ronan Keating was also on-hand and paid particular attention to a large bronze bowl sculpture.

Guggi gave Ro a personal tour of his latest work and looked like a seasoned salesman as he walked Ronan around his bowl sculpture. A perfect vessel to baptize your new baby in Ronan?

Other celeb friends of Guggi's including Andrea Corr, Gavin Friday, Dave Egan, Martina Fox, Anne Madden and Louis Le Brouqay as well as his wife Sybille Rowan and four children attended the show.

And don't worry, we hear Bono is a regular reader of ShowBiz Ireland so he will no doubt be logging on here to see what his pals got up to in his absence as he is currently touring with U2 in the USA.

If you want to see Guggi's exhibition it is open now in the Solomon Gallery, Powerscourt Towncentre, until the 22nd of November. You can also see it online now by clicking here.
