Bono Wins International Statesman Award


Bono, of the Irish rock band U2, has made the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But now he has an award that may mean a little bit more.

The World Affairs Council of Philadelphia has bestowed to Bono its prestigious International Statesman Award. Action News was at the University of Pennsylvania for the ceremony.

Bono, who was in town as part of his most recent tour, has brought attention to several global causes, most notably, the AIDs epidemic in Africa.

Past recipients of the Statesman Award include leaders: Anwar Sadat, Mickhail Gorbechev, and Yitzsak Rabin.
