Ticketmaster's Monopoly
ALthough pointless, I just need to voice my frustration as I get no response from U2.com, principal management, or ticketmaster.
I have been a diehard U2 fan since 1985, and seen the band on each tour numerous times, thanks in large part to Propaganda's priority ticketing.
This is the first tour I have come up empty handed on the ticketing. Maybe I should consider myself one of the lucky few who actually was able to see GA-Floor seats on the screen and lose them when clicking the "continue" button and receiving the "Internal System Error" message.
When I contacted ticketmaster and explained the problem, I got an "oh-well" attitude. I explained that fans who receive these types of errors when processing the ticket orders should be taken care of by being put on a list for the next available show, or something to that nature. TICKETBASTARD responded by telling me to contact U2 as ticketmaster is only doing what the band tells them to do.
That solved the problem instantly becasue, of course, I have Bono, Larry, Adam, and Edge's number on friggin speed dial!
It is a shame ticketmaster has a monoply on concert tickets becasue the result is poor customer service with a high demand show. If it was Mickey and Minnie on Ice, I am sure they would have retrieved the partially submitted order from the cyberspace and gladly sold me the tickets.
When I explained this to ticketmaster, they informed me I had another option, I could buy the tickets from TICKETS.COM. Good solution. I think a fan should pay $1215 per ticket for GA tickects in MSG.
Well Bono, Larry, Adam, and Edge---I am a fan, I love your music, and I am happy to spend my hard-earned money to see you perform live (becasue there is nothing better than a U2 gig)---but I do not have $3000 to spend on one show.
Take care, and have a great life!
