Australia stays at #3 for the Christmas week!
Would have been huge sales, maybe over 40k
Still plat x 3, I think it would have sold roughly 180k by this point. Hoping to find exact figures though!

Shame it didn't end up at 4 as the mid weeks predicted then. 163k is still pretty flaming massive though & it probably only didn't hit 200k+ like top 6 last year 'cos Xmas eve sales weren't actually inlcuded this year. With 569,335 it's now up 16 to 22nd best selling artist album of 2006 in UK.

Xmas eve sales should still help keep it's sales relatively high though...maybe 40k. I'm well chuffed it'll end 2006 with ~600k though 'cos initially i honestly didn't really think it would do over 500k.

Not exactly completely U2 related but people have been asking about Australian sales figures...
The #1 album in Australia this week sold 101k, the highest for the year. Pity it's Australian Idol.
#29 sold 7832 copies and #45 sold 5465 copies.

Question 2 - Should be over 500k. There was a gain of 60k in the UK alone, and every chart I've seen this week U2's position is holding steady which would mean increased sales over previous week. HOWEVER, there is one thing that might interfere with this. Some countries dont release charts for a week or two around this time of the year, and when they dont do this Mediatraffic obviously isnt going to have any data, or even any positions to make an estimate. So if the number seems a bit low when its released, that might be why.

Must be over 500k this week...probably ~550k.
Hit List world chart will no doubt only have ~450k though, but apart from their 1st week total (of 511k) their figures have clearly been too low...another example : they had 178k for Oasis' Stop The Clocks last week but that sold 172k in just UK, Japan & France alone that week. & no way did it only sell 6k in rest of world. Incidentally MediaTraffic's figure was 214k - so again much more accurate.
Anyway, thx for the Aussie sales figures ChargedVT. Interesting stuff. Hope you soon get some more U218 figures.

Pretty good results from N.America then. It sold over 105k in US so increased by over 30% from last week.
Combined with the 45% UK increase (& the fact it was anyway the biggest week of the year), worldwide increase must be at least 30% this week. So at least 570k sold overall.
However i still expect MediaTraffic to give no more than 550k.

New Zealand : stays @ 1 (4th wk @ 1)
France : stays @ 1 on compilation chart so top 5 in overall chart...imagine it sold ~45k.
Italy : stays @ 5...imagine it sold ~35k.

Mediatraffic this week: #3 and 528,000 copies
So a massive increase over last week's number, however I still think this number is a little low.
One thing I did hear is that the sales for U2 18 in France are not counted on Mediatraffic due to being in the Compilation chart in that country.
