...from the UK as Bomb finally re-enters the top 200 !! :

Albums :
Best Of 80-90 # 187 (# 179)
HTDAAB : # 196 (RE)

Singles :
Vertigo # 186 (# 162)
COBL # 243 (# 208)

The # 200 album (The Eminem Show) sold 1,083 so i guess Bomb, at # 196, would have sold about 1,100

So, approx. total UK sales for the Bomb now = 1,192,000

great,

but why did it take so long to re-enter, did ABOY have no effect?

is it likely to drop out again next week.

and is 1,192,000 the sales only while its been in the top 200?

yes HTDAAB is 20 in greece

AMAZING!

Who would have thought that Greece would be one of the countries where HTDAAB would have this much staying power. Perhaps the Greeks will be rewarded in 2006 with a Vertigo Tour concert date. :D

It's difficult to say exactly whether ABOY had an effect 'cos i expected Bomb to re-peak when ABOY hit # 4...maybe there are other things conspiring to help Bomb like the new DVD release of The Vertigo Tour or a programme on Channel 4 this Sunday called The Best Selling UK album artists of 2000-2005 (U2 will feature well & should be about 8th on the list with around 4.3 million albums sold). So i'm secretly hoping/quietly confident that Bomb can stay on the top 200 for the rest of 2005.

The 1,192,000 figure is the UK total for Bomb's full chart life - including the 6 weeks it's spent outside the top 200 when it was selling around 800 copies per week.

about the channel 4 programme, whats your prediction for the top 10?

Well, i've just heard that, stupidly, this list will not include Greatest Hits, Live Albums or Downloads. So without U2's two Best Of's i believe their overall album sales (on this list) will only be around 3 million - that's about 1.4 million fewer albums than they've actually sold. This will probably relegate them outside the top 10 but still just inside the top 20.

Anyway here's a very accurate, proper / 'official' top 10 that includes Greatest Hits & Live Albums (not sure about downloads). This top 10 does NOT include album sales in 2005 though :

UK Top Selling Album Artists - January 2000 - December 2004
1. Robbie Williams - 9.20 (million's)
2. Westlife - 5.99
3. Dido - 5.61
4. Eminem - 5.06
5. Red Hot Chili Peppers - 4.53
6. Coldplay - 4.44
7. David Gray - 4.32
8. Beatles - 4.09
9. Madonna - 4.06
10. U2 - 3.86

Just found the following :

Robbie Williams is the UK’s biggest-selling artist of the 21st century - selling 6.3 million albums since 2000.

The star is currently at the top of the album charts with his sixth studio solo album, Intensive Care.

Coldplay follow close behind with 6.2 million for their three albums, all released since the start of the millennium.

The list was revealed in a Channel 4 show screened yesterday, The Biggest Selling Artists of the 21st Century.

Dido is in third place, having notched up 5.7 million sales for her two albums in the last five years.

Those who narrowly miss out on top ten ranking include Kylie Minogue, Pink, Craig David and Will Young.

The figures, taken on October 11 this year, are based on sales of albums released since January 2000 but exclude greatest hits, live albums and downloads.

1 Robbie Williams 6.3
2 Coldplay 6.2
3 Dido 5.7
4 Eminem 4.7
5 Westlife 4.2
6 Norah Jones 3.3
7 Blue 3.3
8 Anastacia 3.1
9 Stereophonics 2.8
10 Oasis 2.6

So this list does not even include back catalogue sales - only sales for studio album releases since Jan 2000. So U2's total should be around 2.3 million - 1.11 million for ATYCLB + 1.19 million for HTDAAB - which may still just put them in the top 20.
