Eurocharts for week 36

Billboard has updated the Eurocharts...

HTDAAB rises another spot to 16
COBL rises 12 spots to 37

Should mean another week on the World Charts

Interesting, Edge3 had estimated the album was at 7,955,000 last week, and the album could have easily sold 45,000 copies this week to arrive at 8 million, so it looks like Edge3 is right on the money with his estimates.

Fantastic result. That's because of the high positions in the countries where the boys played and because of a stabilization of the position in the major markets. 4x Platinum is really great, 8.000.000 sold in only 8 months and mediatraffic represents not all the sales.

City stays at 21 for the third week which is great. Worldwide, the single has a lot of succes.

What were the positions of SYCMIOYO?

Well, well, so MikeUK was right : i actually under estimated somewhere along the line. I'll now have to change/increase the figures a bit - i'll increase the last 3 weeks to 44K in w.35, 40K in w.36 & 39K this week. The figures now add up to 8M exactly (a definite minimum figure) :

7,802,000 + 37,000 (w.33) + 38,000 (w.34) + 44,000 (w.35) + 40,000 (w.36) + 39,000 (w.37) = 8,000,000...awesome result & it's fair to say that this is only 85-94% of the actual total.

So, worldwide consumers sales of Bomb are definitely over 8,5 million!
Considering 9 million copies were reportedly shipped a couple of months ago, I guess a new shipment is in order, right?

The 10 million mark at the year end doesn´t seem so out of reach after all, although for that figure to happen, a massive single is required, specially in the US.

I don't deserve any credit here - all I did was report the Hitlist reported sales for this week ! It would be good to have an official & detailed comparison of Bomb's sales on both charts. Hitlist had 2004 (5 weeks)sales of Bomb at 4,214,600 - do we recall whatthe mediatraffic total was ?

4,460,000 at Mediatraffic after 5 weeks (incl. 84K in Japan in 1st week)...strange...i would have expected the Hit List figure to be higher. Any ideas why?

I think the fact that Mediatraffic considers also in how many countries a album is charting could have an influence on the charts. The sales were as high for Mediatraffic because they give points or the number of charts the album is charting. But the difference is really strange because it's opposite now with higher sales on hitslist. What do you think?

Yeah, good point Zoovation but mediatraffic only use points to determine their weekly top 40 chart & not for the artists/albums that they give sales info for in their weekly news commentaries. So this totally rules U2 out as they gave the sales figures for Bomb in the 1st 5 weeks.

Maybe Hit List had less sales info or had a different system 8-9 months ago?

or maybe the 5th week cut off point for sales, to the end of 2004, was only 3-4 days at Hit List...so they only had about 400K in sales for Bomb instead of the 850K or so that it sold in the full 7 days (which they had at mediatraffic)?
