irish singles chart:cobl#8
irish albums chart:htdaab#28(#23),best of 1980-1990#37(#65),joshua tree#40(#44)

Yeah, that's a bit surprising but at least BO 80-90 & JT go back into top 40.

...plus :

BO 90-00 : # 52 (RE) - 91 wks (on top 75)
ATYCLB : # 72 (RE) - 102 wks

...plus - DVD chart :

U2 Go Home # 3 (RE)

...so, overall, quite impressive really.

AHHHHHHHHHHHH YES, only two more weeks until the first of three shows at Croke Park and the hype is already starting to kick in! We'll see if the results will be as good as when U2 played Slane twice in 2001 and nearly every U2 album made the chart.

why is COBL only #8 in ireland?! thats shocking.
HTDAAB definately to re-enter top 30, maybe 20. wouldnt be surprised to see the Joshua Tree make it into the top 50 either.

Btw : according to Patske's recent Belgium thread that chart is only for Flanders (pop : 6M) not whole of Belgium. Apparantly there's a separate chart for the other part of Belgium - Wallonie (pop : 3M). Last week Bomb was # 37 in Wallonie, so I would guess Bomb would actually be about # 30 on whole of Belgium chart with about 120-170K sold.

#2 for COBL is great, if it wernt for that stupid frog, theyd have a 7th #1!

good result for bomb also, though id have thought it would have been a bit higher

Just to confirm : COBL sold 24,709 for # 2 spot & also moved up 5 spots to # 2 on airplay chart.

Also, I estimate Bomb sold about 7,500 copies last week in UK. So that's about 1,093,000 now sold overall.

Also, let's not forget U2's backcatalogue :

JT : # 58 (# 75) - 4,000 (est.) copies sold
BO 80-90 : # 61 (# 65) - 3,800 (est.)
BO 90-00 : # 80 (# 124) - 2,500 (est.)
ATYCLB : # 91 (# 111) - 2,000 (est.)
AB : # 135 (RE) - 1,500 (est.)
R&H : # 153 (RE) - 1,300 (est.)

Finally, still on top 200 singles chart :

Vertigo : # 117 (# 121)
Sometimes : # 127 (# 115)

So, overall, U2 shifted A LOT of records in UK last week. :applaud: :dancing: :) :) :)

In summary, U2 is charting all over the globe...Vertigo was number 2 in a couple countries, Argentina has 3 singles in their Top 100, and I really have to wonder about mediatraffic's standard answer regarding their sales accuracy being roughly 90 to 95% of Global sales. On average, that may be the case, but U2 is one of the most far reaching bands on Earth, and I have to wonder if perhaps they sell more than 5% of their albums outside of the countries tracked on the Global Chart. Anyway, hope you enjoyed a brief look at a few countries around the globe.

thanks,

and i'd say that U2 is definately selling more albums outside of the mediatraffic global chart than any other artists. so HTDAAB has sold more than mediatraffics 7.6 million, ish. and is more likely to have sold 8.6 million, with 10 million copies shipped.

my prediction for this weeks global chart.
COBL # 8
HTDAAB #32, with 5 new entries ahead of it.

OK...i love this game...for mediatraffic i reckon :

COBL : # 18
Bomb : # 30 (with sales increase)

Also, some more great news from UK : Bomb is up to # 10 at WHSmith & # 11 at Woolworths. So top 20 is virtually guaranteed next week on official chart with good chance of return to top 10. Awesome - bring on Manchester!:wink:

for me in mediatraffic:

city #9
bomb # 30 or 31

But i have a question for you:city solds near 25k only in uk....how many copies are necessary for a top 10 in mediatraffic single's chart?

This week i want an increase in Belgium and Germany and Uk....with tour, specils on tv and radio....do you agree?

great stuff , any chance it could return to #1, after the UK tour ends?

or maybe i'm hoping for a little too much.

does anyone have the UK album chart positions for ALL / any, U2 albums the week before/after the UK leg of the Elevation Tour?

Here are the actual amazon charts from germany (sunday show in Schalke, on monday the first appearance in a german tv show ever (tv total):

HTDAAB #22
Best of 80 #43
Best of 90 # 61
Joshua Tree #94
Achtung Baby #95

Most of the other albums between 100 and 250 !!

ATYCLB : #'s 22, 15, 16, 23 + JT, AB, BO 80-90 & R&H all on top 75 during this time.

cheers edge3!

i think the albums will do better ths time, hopefully htdaab into top 10, and JT into top 40

In Italy, for the second week in a row, HTDAAB goes up in the album chart, from 42 to 41; unfortunately, COBL has not been released yet here, so it can't help the bomb to grab some other gain in the album chart. COBL is quite regularly played by the major radio networks, but I think that a good position in the singles chart (number 3 - 5?) could be very helpful for HTDAAB for two or three weeks, 'til arrive of Vertigo Tour here.

HTDAAB chart run:
1-1-4-5-5-6-3-3-4-8-
6-10-9-8-8-9-15-14-21-17
16-17-17-26-33-33-44-42-41

Vertigo chart run:
1-1-1-1-6-6-7-6-2-7-
8-17-11-11-17-21-19-x-x-34-
x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

SYCMIOYO chart run:
2-4-9-18-19-25-22-16-35-29-
34-41-x-42-x-x

In France HTDAAB slides from 42 to 47.

Yes. I can't get the link to "Charts around the world" to work right now, but for Poland, there is a link to what appears to be the "official" Polish Music Charts website. There are two singles charts, which only show the Top 10. I cannot translate, but it looks like one chart is for airplay and one for sales. I am assuming that COBL is #1 on the sales chart, as this was it's debut week on the chart.
