My faith in U2's ability to achieve #1 dropped dramatically
Thanks soldatti. I guess we can see that with the consistently large albums sales, and high chart rankings by Eminem, it's looking very likely that U2 won't make it to #1.

I now realise why THE FLY never made it higher than #61 in the USA. A lot of people say it was cause it's so different, but really a HUGE factor in it not climing higher than it did was the fact that Mysterious Ways was released 2 weeks after The Fly was in the USA. And what are the radio stations going to go for? The more radio-friendly song ofcourse.

Yes thanks Soldatti, I was wondering how Delirious? had performed on the charts in the USA. Clearly not that crash hot, but you can't blame them seeing that they made their own record company to promote themselves, so they don't have much influence outside the UK. Making a big impact in OZ though .

U2's "Vertigo" Reaches Dizzying Heights

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) - A 2-1 move places U2's "Vertigo" (Interscope) at the pinnacle of Modern Rock Tracks. It is the group's first song to go all the way since "Staring at the Sun" ruled for three weeks in April 1997.

"Vertigo" is the eighth U2 song to be a Modern Rock No. 1. That ties the Irish rockers with Red Hot Chili Peppers for the most chart-toppers in the history of that survey.

There is one record U2 has all to itself: It is the act with the longest span of No. 1s on Modern Rock Tracks, stretching over 16 years and two weeks, counting back to Oct. 22, 1988, the week "Desire" marched into pole position.

Previously, the longest Modern Rock span of No. 1 songs belonged to Jane's Addiction, with 12 years and 11 months between "Stop!" in December 1990 and "Just Because" in August 2003.

Ok, I have almost all the information with the exception of the albums chart runs for the Pogues, but I have chart histories of them with peak positions and weeks on chart.
