No, I know you're just taking guesses as to where they're playing, but what are the numbers supposed to be?

Some guy over at u2start.com heard from a guy who knows Dallas Schoo that the album is coming out in August, and that they are planning 7 dates at the newly restored L.A. Forum (no date given). He also said U2 are doing something at the old LA Sports Arena in April, but that seems unusual.

Safe to say that even if they do an arena tour in North America and Europe, it'll become a stadium tour for the rest of the world. I'd love arena dates down here but it's not going to happen. To satisfy demand they'd have to do something like:

Auckland: 4x Vector Arena (or 3x Vector Arena, 1-2x CBS Canterbury Arena, Christchurch)
Brisbane: 2-3x Brisbane Entertainment Centre
Sydney: 6-7x Allphones Arena
Melbourne: 6-7x Rod Laver Arena
Adelaide: 2-3x Adelaide Entertainment Centre, if it doesn't get skipped (going by the pattern, next tour is Adelaide's turn over Perth)
Perth: 2-3x Perth Arena, if it doesn't get skipped

So that's 22-28 shows. Not going to happen when they can just do stadiums. Which leads me to:

Sydney-ANZ Stadium- 93 000
Melbourne -The Melbourne Cricket Ground- 90 000
Brisbane- 50 000
Perth-Perth Oval- 2. 23 000
New Zealand- Eden Park- 50 000

Melbourne shows won't be at the MCG. It may be bigger than Etihad, but it has awful acoustics and is rarely used for concerts.

A New Zealand show won't be at Eden Park. Auckland stadium gigs are held at Mt Smart Stadium. Westpac Stadium in Wellington doesn't host many gigs due to noise restrictions (they're only allowed a few per year), but they'd try for U2. They have in the past. Wellington may be smaller than Auckland but its central location helps and the stadium's probably the nicest in the country.

As for Perth, doubt they'd use Perth Oval when there's the much bigger Subiaco.

So assuming a stadium tour:

Brisbane: 1-2x Suncorp Stadium (or, since Suncorp also is limited in how many shows it can hold, QSAC)
Sydney: 2x ANZ Stadium
Melbourne: 2x Etihad
And then the usual Adelaide (Adelaide Oval) and/or Perth (Subiaco).

Estádio da Luz do not host music concerts or events like this, it wasn't conceived with that purpose. On the other hand, Estádio de Alvalade XXI (like its predecessor) was (U2 played there in 2005).
I know about the arena rumours, but I'm not seeing at all U2 performing in Pavilhão Atlântico/Meo Arena or a place like that. In a market like Portugal, U2 would have to play in a stadium or in a bigger place - for instance, Parque da Bela Vista (100 000 people máx., I guess) or in smaller stadiums like Coimbra (2010, 42 000 people).

In Barcelona, if performing in a stadium, it would certainly be Camp Nou, not a Estadi Olimpic...

There have been many concerts at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, including U2 in 1997. Camp Nou is bigger, so it would probably be U2's choice in the future. Wikipedia says;

Thanks for the info, acrobat. If fact, Camp Nou is more popular, when I'm working and living there, there's much more information about shows on Camp Nou than on Stadi Olimpic.

What makes you think the same rules dont apply anywhere else? Take London for example.....im sure to meet demand in london alone....u2 would need to play something like 10-12 shows at the o2 where as outdoor, it would probably be 2 shows at Wembley.
Same with Scotland......if indoor, u2 would have to play about 3-4 indoor shows just to cover what they would play in one big stadium show, but we will be lucky if we get 2 indoor shows
