.....we'll, in a few weeks, be the "VERTIGO TOUR"!

The VERTIGO TOUR has already GROSSED over $119 million dollars after only 23 shows and will be at over $155 million dollars by the time the tour ends in mid August. No other artist has ever GROSSED this much from a European tour. The crown previously belonged to the Rolling Stones.

Voodoo Lounge $107 million
Bridges To Babylon $124 million

Individual figures for the "Licks World Tour" have not been released although the overall total has been released for the entire world tour with a figure of almost $300 million for 115 shows. Only 46 of those shows were in Europe and nearly half of the shows on the world tour did not sellout, with many of the shows reportedly being in Europe. In any event, since only a little over a 1/3 of the tour took place in Europe, the GROSS was well below the $150 million mark.

It remains to be seen if the Stones new tour a "Bigger Bang" will be able to keep up with the Vertigo tour once it hits Europe in 2006. The Stones will be charging a high ticket price and they will obviously play to their base in Europe which is in Germany. But given the fact that many of the Stones shows in Europe failed to sellout in 2003 and the fact that every U2 show in Europe quickly soldout on the day tickets went on sale, its unlikely the Stones will be able to recapture the crown unless they add many smaller shows in Arena's to bulk up their numbers. In addition, U2 may very well return to Europe in the Spring/Summer of 2006 which would likely insure Vertigo Tour would stay ahead of anything the Stones would plan for Europe. Although I wouldn't write the Stones chances off yet, it does appear that U2 has now moved ahead of the Stones as a Concert drawing act in Europe and many other area's in the world. The only place it seems where the Stones still have a lock is Germany, United States, and Japan.
