Well, 4 days after it was 1st played (give or take...that's all I can find), Sometimes debuts on the VH1 Top 20 Video countdown at #18, and ABOY falls off the chart during the same week. This video is on every single hour...when videos are actually being played...and should be a lock for the top spot eventually!

Best time to see it is between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM in the morning, unless you suffer from insomnia...then you should be able to catch it around 4:00 AM as I did a few days ago.

No sooner did VH1 update, MTV updates it's Top 20 videos this week, and ABOY rises from 14 to 12. It may be the fact that MTV jammed sponsored the video...not sure, because the video has dropped of this chart and reentered at least once, although this run is now 5 weeks long.

I know some folks think MTV doesn't matter, but the demographic watching MTV is 13-25, and they buy music in droves. MTV airs a lot of crap, but every minute taken up by U2 is a victory for good music. I guess it's because MTV plays so few videos, but as you can see from the playlist, ABOY is in a pretty exclusive club in terms of size anyway...

While I'm on videos, ABOY is up to #11 on Much Music, too...

There is a MTV2 version of Much Music, appropriately called "Much More Music", and here is there Top 20, where ABOY threatens to take the top spot tomorrow...

Not bad, not bad at all!

How well is 'sometimes' doing in the US compared to Walk On, Elevation & Stuck In A Moment ?

will 'sometimes' get into the billboard hot 100?, which 'walk on' and 'elevation' failed to do.

"Sometimes" is off to a great start on the adult contemporary sort of stations and should also do well on alternative rock formats.......I think it's bound to hit The Top 100, but I'm not sure where it will head after that.

On VH1 this past week, (7th -11th) they have run this video so often it's unbelievable. I would watch something else and turn over at a certain time and see it. I was watching, early in the morning (2:30am) last Monday and the 2nd video was Sometimes. Within that same hour it was played again. This has been going on all this week.
I kept up with Vertigo and ABOY, but Sometimes.. is being played as much if not more than Vertigo. (except for the iPod)
Still curious to find out why ABOY fell completely off the chart after falling only to #12 on VH1. I've not seen this with other videos. They keep showing up - all the way down, to # 20. (Snow Patrol #19, which I don't mind, but geez...etc)
As soon as Sometimes.... started showing on VH1, ABOY was gone. No - # 14, 16 or anything, pulled? gone..

Are they so afraid of U2 that they won't allow 2 - U2 videos to be in the top 20 videos?
I guess not:|

It's real simple........VH1 uses their own methods for video placement.........album sales determine a great deal of where the video gets placed in the countdown, so the sales for HTDAAB was really the only reason why "ABOY" was on the countdown......now that there's a new track (that already looks to be a bigger hit), they've moved on to it.....
