Ok a couple things I need to know:

-What does it mean to "recertify" an album?

and out of curiousity, what comes after 4X platinum?
5x? then 6x?
I thought there was gold or something as well?

To recertify an album means to certify the album at a NEW sales level. Albums are certified first GOLD for half a million, then Platinum for a million and multi-platinum for each successive million copies sold.

muchos muchos thanks

Also, there's a Diamond Award now that is rewarded to albums that have sold over 10 Million copies in the U.S.A. U2's "The Joshua Tree" is one of the 60 or so albums that have achieved Diamond status.

Yes, it?s bitter... there were times when people... umm sorry... when CEOs thought that 500,000 copies was much.
