Hello,

I was just checking the RIAA site for recent certifications and saw the following when I searched for U2:

Artist Title Cert. Date Label Award Desc. Format Category Type
U2 VERTIGO 02/02/05 INTERSCOPE P SINGLE GROUP Dig
U2 VERTIGO 01/06/05 INTERSCOPE G SINGLE GROUP Dig

As these are certifications for the digital single that means at least 200,000 downloads!

Now, if they would only re-certify U2's backcatalog...

C ya!

Great!!

I expect a multiple recertifications this year. Maybe 11x/12x Platinum for JT, 9x for AB and, who knows, 5x War? 6x R&H? 3x Zooropa? :D

:( yes, Zooropa only did 2x Platinum back in september 1993 but I know that sales to cosumers stands at 2,5 million or something like that so, maybe in the future we will see a 3x cerification for Zooropa. And maybe, 2x for Pop. Maybe in 2015

I can't believe Zooropa sold more than Pop in america!

i really like Pop, it should have sold a lot more than 1 million!

It did! It sold 1.5M copies to consumers in the U.S. Unfortunately, that's not enough for a 2X Platinum status. Had the album been released in November 1996, as originally planned, I think it would have at least reached that mark.
