To be fair I was ready to proclaim victory by the end of the fourth over. But we scored about three runs from that point on. Kohli is awesome

The woes of being a Kiwi cricket fan continue.

Glad I didn't get up to watch it - but I did spend all night dreaming various victory scenarios. I woke up convinced we must have won.

That's underwhelming. I watched bits and pieces, I think it all went to shit after Munro got out.

Magnificent performance by the Windies! Both their men's and women's teams in the finals of the World T20!

Damnit Kiwi women I was relying upon you to salvage some glory for us!

And what a ride for the Windies men: lose to Afghanistan one game, storm into the final by defeating the home team the next.

I highly doubt that was a legitimate loss, to Afghanistan. Not suggesting match fixing, but they rested. Should be a great final and hopefully the Windies destroy England.

Windies needed 19 from the last over.

Enter Carlos Brathwaite.

6 6 6 6.

Game fucking over.

What an absolutely magnificent final. Well done Windies, the first ever repeat winners of the T20 world cup!

Still not a big 20/20 fan, but, wow, what a finish.

Wish I'd been able to stay up and watch it, sounds like a pearler.

If you were a West Indian, why would you bother with Test cricket? Seems like their future, sadly, is in T20.

What a horrible blow to a very promising career. Poor guy.

Also, what's up with that third-last paragraph that at 5'6" Taylor was possibly "too short" to play international cricket? Where does that leave Sachin Tendulkar, who's an inch or two shorter still? Or Brendon McCullum, who's barely an inch taller? Yeah Sachin and BMac clearly needed a few more inches to make it at international level. Come on.

Agreed wholeheartedly. Or Warner. Hell, let's talk about Aravinda de Silva who was 5'3. Cricket is a sport where height should matter relatively little.

If anything, being tall is a disadvantage in getting no ball calls. If you're a seven foot giant, the bowler's got to actually try to bowl a full toss above the waist or repeated bouncers above head height! If you're five foot, every second delivery from a wayward bowler trying for a yorker is going to be a free hit.

Also, if you're 7 foot tall you can't really field, see Mohammad Irfan.
