It would be historical, that's for certain. Detroit is so deep as a team...they are truly something to watch.

Actually, yes. I've always enjoyed Quinn's more offensive mindset, not to mention the fact that he's won before. Although, granted, I would have won coaching the 2002 Olympic and 2009 Canadian junior teams. But still.

Jacques Martin in, goaltender coach Roland Melanson out and no word on assistants Kirk Muller, Doug Jarvis and Don Lever. However, according to radio reports Mario Tremblay will be brought in as an assistant, with Jacques Lemaire as a special advisor.

That's it. I can't take it anymore. While I hope to be proven wrong, these choices are very uninspiring and it's back to the 'old boys club' mentality. When teams around the league are hiring young, enthusiastic, hungry coaches with new ideas (Boudreau, DeBoer, McLellan, Clouston, Bylsma) and positive results, I was hoping that the Canadiens would go the same route.

BUT NO. The team sees fit to pander to the French media and hire a bilingual coach. Why? Why would you reduce the talent pool by only looking at one type of coach? Other rumoured candidates were Marc Crawford and Bob Hartley—both bilingual. Why not try and get the best available coach?

I've had it. Can't stand it anymore.

You're starting to sound like a Leafs fan. Does this mean you are going to change your avatar?

Not a chance. I'm still a fan and always will be. But I still reserve the right to be critical, irrational, and unrealistic....

I agree, it does seem rather formulaic...c'est la vie de hockey à Montreal. Maybe he'll be brilliant, and make everyone eat their words...we'll see.

GO PENS! Not looking so good....but they're not out of it yet.

Kip, why are you rooting for the Pens? What about Dan Cleary?

Don’t get me wrong, I smile proudly from ear to ear when Cleary does something great…and he’s having a truly magical playoffs. But, he won the thing last year!

There’s something compelling about Pittsburgh—how they now find themselves in the very same position as last season, but are desperately trying to rewrite that script. With the law of averages--along with and league parity--they may never get this chance again. Some love that fact, and despise Crosby, but I love the potential for this to be a truly great story in the history of hockey!

---> acknowledgment of abject corniness in the preceding.

I know he's a hockey player and all, but Crosby needs a shave.

Cleary's playoff beard is certainly better than Crosby's.

I hope that statement makes up for me being a traitor to my people.
