The key is local venues so you're home by 11:45 and the occasional further-away Thursday show. I had considered DC as a Father's Day gift to myself but too much going on to swing a night away into a Monday.

I am not buying any other big shows this year except for whenever Arctic Monkeys happen...

And it is happening! GA easy as pie in the fan presale just now...

July 24 - Arctic Monkeys, Forest Hills

That is it! For the year I think! Unless U2 puts on more shows at Mohegan Sun (PLEASE NO) or Arcade Fire does another US swing (stay on the west coast!). Of course, if somebody good plays Global Citizen I will likely go but that's free anyway! Same for any other summer freebies.

And shoot me now...

July 19 - Arcade Fire, Philadelphia

I hope the fact that EVERYONE is coming close (enough) this year means there will be nobody touring next year and I can rest.

Sooo... Somebody reminded me yesterday that I would be at 99 U2 performances after this tour... Got me thinking maybe I should go for #100 and since we know now that July 3 is really the last NA show, I got to thinking what was the easiest show for me to get to that I don't already have, and it was Philadelphia #2... So happens the venue still had some good value seats for this show...tonight pulled a $76 lower in row 5 in Sec 120, across the aisle from 121.

June 14 - U2, Philadelphia

And so, I am going to this. Definitely doing this one as a runner! This means Milan 4 will be my 100th U2 performance. :hyper: And I swear, this is now it for U2 this tour - at least in 2018. ;)

Well nobody went to the arena tour...

Indeed. Part of me will always associate the network of Live Nation sheds with the summer nostalgia circuit. With the exception of my favorite one (Jiffy Lube Live), the other spots are basically theatre capacity. They definitely need to recalibrate. Wouldn't mind a Forest Hills show, though..

Theatre capacity?

Most sheds are in the 15-20K range with lawn.

Ah gotcha.
Yeah they are playing Blue Hills Bank Pavilion here (formerly Harborlights, much better name), not an amphitheater (that would be the Xfinity Center formerly Great Woods, also much better name).

Awesome. He's playing near me but my summer plans are by no means finalized. If I'm home I'll likely go.

Glen Hansard always performs a fantastic show. When I saw him a few years back, at the Beacon, he kept it going by doing a couple of songs with his guitar outside around the block and by the stage door.

Been a few weeks since I bought tix, but I saw the lineup for this and I was all in:

September 29-30 - The National Presents: There's No Leaving New York festival (incl. The National, Future Islands, Cat Power, Jason Isbell, Cigarettes After Sex, and more), Forest Hills

Although this one is a two-day event, it kinda reminds me of that great one day Arcade Fire mini-fest that included LCD Soundsystem, Blonde Redhead and others 11 years ago. Anyway, I am eyeing a couple of other (non-U2) shows that are already on sale, I am trying to let my bank account recover a little first though. ;)

Cancelled:
Feb 15 LCD Soundsystem, Nick Murphy @ Sidney Myer Music Bowl

Past:
Jan 13 The XX, Kelela, Kučka @ Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Jan 27 Symphonica: Armand Van Helden with the MSO, Harvey Sutherland @ Sidney Myer Music Bowl

Feb 23+24 Square Sounds Festival @ 24 Moons
Feb 25 Neil & Liam Finn, Donny Benet @ Melbourne Zoo
Feb 28 Beck, Meg Mac @ Margaret Court Arena

Mar 1 The National, Little May @ Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Mar 9 The Beatles Orchestrated @ Hamer Hall

Upcoming:
Apr 27 Joe Hisaishi Studio Ghibli in Concert @ Hamer Hall

January 19 - St Vincent

April 1 - Crazy Ex-Girlfriend cast[/STRIKE]

I ended up not going to either OMD or I'm With Her recently. :reject: I need to be choosier about what I buy tickets to.

But .... look how flimsy my concert schedule is for the rest of the year. :(

No, I did not buy a ticket today! But Central Park Summerstage announced all their free shows today, and I was very happy to see this one since I had missed them on their swing through last week due to being out of town, so I am putting it on the calendar!

July 1 - Broken Social Scene, NYC

Yes I have U2 that night...so two shows in one day? But, BSS is a day show, so why not? It's free, a Sunday and I won't need to queue for U2 that night b/c I have a seat. Maybe BSS are going to see U2 too that night, since the tour is skipping Toronto, lol. ;)

This is more a revision than a new band - Arctic Monkeys added a May show at Brooklyn Steel...

May 9 - Arctic Monkeys, Brooklyn

so... I have struck the Forest Hills show on July24, and am selling that ticket, if anyone is interested, let me know. Much smaller venue, easier for me to make on a weeknight, and I reckon I will be less concert-ed out then than I would on July 24.

June 30 - Gordon Lightfoot - Toronto
July 2 - Steely Dan - Toronto
July 13 - Destroyer - Hillside Festival, Guelph
July 19 - Radiohead - Toronto
July 31 - St. Vincent - Toronto
August 3 - David Byrne - Toronto
August 4 - maybe David Byrne again, haven't decided yet
August 18 - Jeff Lynne's ELO - Toronto
September 24 - Neko Case - Toronto

Shit, just came to the realization while typing this out that a festival I really want to go to is the weekend of Aug. 17 - 19, which conflicts with ELO. :(
