I think the little guitar riff breakdown in the middle of Wishes is my favorite musical moment since whatever the last thing The National released was.

I've had Troublemaker stuck in my head all day.

New Year is my newest new favorite track. That chorus

After about three spins, I'm afraid I won't like this one as much as Teen Dream. I really only like Wild and Troublemaker right now. But I had to listen to Teen Dream at least five times, I'd say, before it clicked, so I'll keep it in the rotation...

Lazuli has really grown on me lately. I think it's the most Cocteau Twin-esque of the album. That guitar riff :heart:

All better?

(Yes.)

Ffffffffuck. Why Pittsburgh in July and Philly in October (when I'm not there)? Why not the other way around? I hate everything.

Some say Austin is the spiritual cousin of Melbourne.

That's kinda annoying, since it's meant to be Adelaide's sister city. This place is just such a fuck up for live music though. Sounds like it has more in common with Philly.

Anyway, digging this album, even though I got pretty sick of Myth being spun constantly on Cobbler's favourite radio station.

I'm glad I got to see these guys in concert this past week. Some of the songs really rise up in the live setting (Wishes), but others (The Hours) lose a little from the sparser instrumentation. Still, a solid show all around. I was particularly impressed with how seamlessly songs from across the whole catalog flow together. That, and Victoria's ability to practically duplicate the recorded vocals exactly. Well, add Alex's guitar playing. There's more going on there than I expected. And he's a good player.

Wish I could've gotten Lover of Mine and Troublemaker.

There are some bands whose live show drives your fandom up a few degrees. Beach House is one of those bands for me. Victoria sounded fantastic, as evocative and sultry as ever, and the addition of the live drummer added depth and muscle to almost all of the songs. I'm already looking forward to seeing them again in October.

Victoria is a woman.

They were pretty great live. I had some issues with my knee halfway through the set and had to sit down, which sucked, because the minute I walked away they played all of my favorite songs. Still, had a wonderful time. Glad I had the opportunity to see them.
