Rock Band - The Fade

The Fade is an unsigned rock band from Fife Scotland

Heres the a link to my bands page

Heavily influenced by U2 and Muse

The Fade

Go to the band profile tab and listen to "Escape" it's the most U2 sounding..it even has a shimmer effect in it.

Hey folks. I'm a producer of psychedelic experimental electronic music. It doesn't sound like U2 at all - hell, it's not even rock music - but I'm a U2 fan, and I like it, so maybe the general "you" will, too. It's a bit in the Fennesz/MBV/Eno/Spiritualized territory, but not really...I try to fight influences off like they're an illness.

I suggest you download them (for free) and listen to them on your own time, on headphones. I hear chemicals can help!

Dude really nice! I actually really enjoyed this song. It has a Radiohead sort of feel to it imo. The singing does have a little bit of a "bored" type of feel to them. But it's not terribly bad. Great job!

Well it finally uploaded!

Mystery Girl is just an original that I composed a while back in October and finished off the vocals (which are still rough) tonight. I won't go on too much but I think this song has major potential. I may end up re-doing the whole song, besides the intro, and get a more rockier type feel from it and pick from either version to use on my next album.

The intro sound is a guitar and is based on Edge's guitar sound on "Lemon". Didn't quite nail it but I ended up with something interesting anyway. And yes the drums are a little off as Garageband is shit when it comes to recording drums MIDI or with a keyboard. Sorry bout that.

Lyrics:

Yesterday I went looking for you
I found you standing there
You were all alone, you wanted to go home

And it's you that I'm looking to
Mystery
And it's all that I want
Mystery

Discovering all the hope in your eyes
Shining bright
It's burning like a fire in the night
I'd like to hold it forever

And it's you that I'm looking to
Mystery
It's you that I want
Mystery
And it's all that I want
Mystery
It's you that I'm looking to
Mystery

Sometimes I wonder do you even notice me, notice me
Then you run off and flow into the sea

And it's you that I'm looking to
Mystery
It's you that I want
Mystery
It's you that I'm looking to
Mystery girl

Oh you
Oh you
Oh you
Oh you

I really like the beat in Dead Another Day and how everything converges around it, also the guitar in Blake's Choice.

So real quickly I'd like to share this original piece (and get a little feedback) I re-recorded this weekend after jamming it out with my band. It's heavily influenced by both U2 and the Doves. It is pretty much just guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. Don't worry about me in the video , I feel really silly after filming that and putting it up.

Lyrics:

Out of breath, out of pace
And fear shown on your face
Your eyes are open wide
And yet I am so surprised

So don't think that I don't care
Just know that I do
But something was in the way of me and you

And we're trying hard
To figure this all out
What's our life about
We will scream, we will shout

So don't think that I don't care
Just know that I do
But something was in the way of me and you
My love I couldn't share
I only could care to be abandoned

So don't think that I don't care
Just know that I do
But something was in the way of me and you
My love I couldn't share
I only could care to be abandoned

Haha I know you said don't worry... but... you're lip syncing! Haha... really good job with the music though.

Yep. Love the Doves. Been slowly getting some of their material (right now I've got Lost Souls and Kingdom of Rust, both are great albums, and some of The Last Broadcast). I think they should be better known here but hardly anyone has heard of them.

I had to lip sync! I'd already recorded the vocal. Is it bad? I'm wondering if I have too much reverb on the guitar and vocal tracks on Abandoned? I already got a thumbs down on YT. This actually my best sounding recording, especially regarding the mixing of the song, to date. Drums sit perfectly in the mix and everything sounds great to me and I am really proud of myself for once!

The vocals sound good, I dunno what you're asking is bad. Nothing is bad.

But it's obvious you're lip syncing, if you were trying to hide the fact. I dunno if you actually sang it or what, but a good tip for lip syncing is to actually sing the song while lip syncing. I mean... you could've been doing that. It just looks like you're not.

You should be proud, jealous of the talent haha.

I was actually singing along to the song. I didn't really care how good/bad the lip syncing was as long as it keeps people interested. As for what I thought was bad is I was asking about the overall sound of the guitar and vocals. Maybe the drums as well as I am absolutely not a drummer. I have taught myself how to keep a decent rhythm in the past couple years. I did all the parts and I love the bass line. It feels weird for me to talk about my own material as I haven't really in the past and usually try to stay off the subject with friends.

Well that's a damper. That's how I feel about music in general with my friends (although I'm not talented enough to make my own, so dont ever feel bad lol what you've done is pretty good).

If you wanna talk about your own music, feel free to throw a bit at me. My ears are open, and I generally like to think I have an awesome taste in music

Haha I like to think i have an awesome taste in music too. I'll probably ask your opinion on a few songs as I actually really like constructive criticism.

This probably gonna be my last original for a while, maybe. It's called "Wire" and I also re-recorded this one and the quality is, once again, surprisingly great. I love when I can turn out a clear tune. The lyrics are in the video but I'll post them here. Also if you think it's maybe "bland" at first just check out the whole thing and the outro part is beautiful.

Lyrics:

Early in the morning
The long night has passed
And your suffering is gone at last
You complain of the pain
But you'll soon find that the worst pain
Is nothing at all
You lose yourself in the haze
You lose yourself in this place
You know the drug you have to face

Caught by the wire
You're so deep in the fire
Some things you don't regret
And some things you don't forget
The pain that you feel inside
And yet you wonder why

Your days soon will pass
And you'll be free at last
With no one to push you away
Your world it has left you
It's crumbled underneath you
Nothing you can do

Caught by the wire
You're so deep in the fire
Some things you don't regret
And some things you don't forget
The pain that you feel inside
And yet you wonder why

Outro was my favorite part, but the guitar throughout the song is also quite nice.

The outro bit is a big reason I listen to it now and then. Funny thing is I was working out Radiohead's House of Cards when I came up with the rhythm guitar part. I think the tuning is a bit different though.

Again good work. But I must ask, what are you shooting for? Do you just do this for fun, or do you want something more out of it?

I know you said you welcome constructive criticism, but I'd rather not be the nitpicky asshole on a web forum pointing out everything I see if you're just doing this for fun (because in the end, it's still very good, and far more than I could ever do).
