I know none of you care, but my record is very, very close to finished - started it just shy of two years ago, and it's been a difficult process since I'm doing literally everything on it (performance, programming, mixing, mastering). Hope to get it onto spotify/apple music/whatnot through distrokid here in the next handful of weeks. I have one producer friend who's gonna give it a listen to make sure there aren't any glaring production issues, but then it's done. Currently sits at 8 songs and 40 minutes.

Blast from the past: I’m gearing up for tomorrow’s inevitable disappointment by drinking too much, listening to the best album of the year (Bartees Strange’s “Live Forever”), Matt’s “Serpentine Prison”, and Parachutes while holding out hope that since the team I coach, Michigan, Manchester United AND the Lions lost this weekend the universe is prepping for a big victory over fascism.

That’s all.

Ooooh, I don't know, this is a pretty big oof for me.

My favorite Van Morrison song is "Everyone" (thanks Wes Anderson), followed by "Brown Eyed Girl" because that has literally been a favorite song of mine for as long as I can remember.

I've always liked that song, too .

"Moondance" is my favorite.

also all I know is the hits from a best of. I have owned Astral Weeks for yrs but never listened to it whoops
I have heard Dweller on The Threshold, as it happens. A number of versions including the original studio track, don't entirely do it for me, but this live version from later in the eighties really brings the energy.

Not even close to my favourite Van Morrison song, although I quite enjoy it. That would be And The Healing Has Begun.

You might check out the other single Gadigal Land. Neither are amazing, lyrics maybe too on the nose, but this is also just a side project.

Supposedly a proper Midnight Oil album is coming out soon too. (was going to be out in 2020, but likely delayed with covid). I am more interested to see how that is, and maybe a chance to them live one last time.

I'm just kinda amazed they are still making new music. 20 year old me thought they were so old when I saw them in 2002, (I think Peter was almost 50), so its kinda crazy to me seeing new music from them almost 2 decades later.

And just for the hell of it, the answer to a question nobody asked - my favourite obscure Van Morrison outtake.

Any other iPhone user experiencing the Siri glitch when asking Siri to play an album via Apple Music? She’s playing album tracks out of order.

There's a bit of a chillwave revival going on right now. Anyone with nostalgia for it (like me) should check out Goth Babe.

Random thought -

Weezer needs a greatest hits album.

Carry on.
