Our responses are overwhelmingly male. I'm not even sure Homogenic would make my list if I went through all the albums. I often find it quite depressing how male-dominant my listening history has been of late.

PJ Harvey’s Rid of Me is another close call for me.

Homogenic is the best album of the 90s IMO. Portishead's Dummy is up there as well.

Really strong decade, much of my taste in music can be summed up with my favorites from that decade. For a list like that, I'd go with:

1. Radiohead - OK Computer
2. U2 - Zooropa
3. R.E.M. - Automatic For the People
4. The Dismemberment Plan - Emergency & I
5. Elliott Smith - Either/Or
6. Outkast - Aquemini
7. Weezer - Blue Album
8. Built to Spill - Keep It Like a Secret
9. Pulp - Different Class
10. Super Furry Animals - Radiator
11. Nas - Illmatic
12. Belle & Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister
13. Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand
14. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
15. Wilco - Summerteeth
16. Liz Phair - Exile in Guyville
17. Beck - Midnite Vultures
18. Black Star - Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star
19. Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
20. The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin
21. Eels - Electro-Shock Blues
22. Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One
23. Sigur Rós - Ágætis Byrjun
24. Teenage Fanclub - Bandwagonesque
25. Silver Jews - American Water

I liked it but not as much as the last one! Home is fantastic, and I liked Ravi a lot too. Never Come Back stands out too, but that's only because the beat sounds almost identical to Show Me Love by Robin S.

i can't believe i forgot about OK computer. move 36 chambers into the honourable mentions and put radiohead on the main list.

A lot easier to make a list when you give yourself nearly 3x the number the original tweet asked for

Yes, I noticed yours wasn't. I should have mentioned it. You've always done a pretty good job of emphasising female artists.

In my defense I had two female artists (Björk and Lauryn Hill) and three bands with both male and female members (Yo La Tengo, MBV, B&S).

We all have albums that take us back to a specific time - Wild Nothing's Gemini is one of those for me. It would rank pretty highly on my best of the 2000s list.

hot fuss, american idiot, and funeral all instantly take me back to freshman year.

late registration/in your honor/X&Y (and the best of the allman brothers lol) are my second-year albums.

not necessarily the best albums of those years but they'll always instantly bring up that great nostalgic feeling for me.
