You and I is sooo good. That synth line is such a good hook, and then that tonal shift in the bridge/chorus takes you complete by surprise. Awesome stuff.

Can’t say I’m excited about the new Malkmus. And I’m sick of these ‘fork reviews that praise his newer albums by shitting on the classic Jicks albums, some of which are fantastic.

Sparkle Hard actually reignited my interest in his solo discography. I love that album and ranked it pretty highly overall the year it came out.

So far, the new album is um...well, it's not Pavement. But it definitely has unique ideas and holds interest. Maybe think of it as his version of Beck's Mutations album.

Damn, I really want those releases by Miles and Mingus. I see that they are re-issuing Bill Evans' Black Forest sessions. I bought that in 2016 (Discogs tells me it's my most valuable record at $200 ) and it's fantastic.

I won't be lining up this year, so hopefully some stuff will survive by the afternoon. Rough Trade is pretty good about that, so I'm sure I'll find something.

I already own the Complete Bitches Brew Sessions (got it used at Amoeba for $25!), so that's of less interest to me.

Surprised no one is talking about the David Bowie double live album from 1974.

This is an awfully hard question. I didn't spend much time thinking about it, but here's what I answered:

MBV - Loveless
Bjork - Homogenic
Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation...
Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
Radiohead - OK Computer
Belle & Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister
Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear The Heart...
Wilco - Being There
U2 - Achtung Baby

black star - mos def & talib kweli are...
U2 - zooropa
verve - a storm in heaven
wu-tang clan - 36 chambers
nas - illmatic
oasis - what's the story morning glory
a tribe called quest - the low end theory
smashing pumpkins - siamese dream
outkast - aquemini

honourable mentions to unplugged by nirvana, the colour and the shape by foo fighters, and californication by RHCP.

Hmmm....
quickly:

U2 Achtung Baby
Pearl Jam Vitalogy
Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream
Alice in Chains Dirt (just slightly ahead of Facelift)
Soundgarden Badmotorfinger
Live Throwing Copper
RHCP Californication
Weezer The Blue Album
GnR Use Your Illusion 1

I feel like the bottom half of this list is always in flux, but today:

Achtung
Pavement - Wowee Zowee
Sugar - Copper Blue
Saint Etienne - Good Humor
Afghan Whigs - Black Love
Bjork - Homogenic
Liz Phair - Whip-Smart
R.E.M. - New Adventures in Hi-Fi
Radiohead - The Bends

Some great hip-hop albums this decade obvs but nothing I love enough to push out any of these.

Odelay and Automatic For The People would be next on my list.

I feel the same way. De La Soul's 3 Feet High and Rising is one that I'd like to fit in my list.

Just off the top of my head and in no order...

U2 - Achtung Baby
OutKast - Aquemini
DJ Shadow - Endtroducing.....
Mos Def - Black on Both Sides
Radiohead - OK Computer
Pearl Jam - Vs
Wu-Tang Clan - 36 Chambers
Nas - Illmatic
Bjork - Homogenic

U2 - Achtung Baby
Radiohead - OK Computer
Depeche Mode - Songs of Faith and Devotion
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Let Love In
Bjork - Post
R.E.M. - Automatic for the People
Porcupine Tree - Stupid Dream
Blur - Parklife

The bottom 5 changes every now and then, but as of today:

U2 - Achtung Baby
Madonna - Ray of Light
Radiohead - The Bends
The Verve - Urban Hyms
Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind
Pearl Jam - Ten
R.E.M. - Automatic for the People
Crowded House - Together Alone
Depeche Mode - Songs of Faith and Devotion

Our responses are overwhelmingly male. I'm not even sure Homogenic would make my list if I went through all the albums. I often find it quite depressing how male-dominant my listening history has been of late.

Homogenic is the best album of the 90s IMO. Portishead's Dummy is up there as well.

Really strong decade, much of my taste in music can be summed up with my favorites from that decade. For a list like that, I'd go with:

1. Radiohead - OK Computer
2. U2 - Zooropa
3. R.E.M. - Automatic For the People
4. The Dismemberment Plan - Emergency & I
5. Elliott Smith - Either/Or
6. Outkast - Aquemini
7. Weezer - Blue Album
8. Built to Spill - Keep It Like a Secret
9. Pulp - Different Class
10. Super Furry Animals - Radiator
11. Nas - Illmatic
12. Belle & Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister
13. Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand
14. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
15. Wilco - Summerteeth
16. Liz Phair - Exile in Guyville
17. Beck - Midnite Vultures
18. Black Star - Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star
19. Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
20. The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin
21. Eels - Electro-Shock Blues
22. Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One
23. Sigur Rós - Ágætis Byrjun
24. Teenage Fanclub - Bandwagonesque
25. Silver Jews - American Water

This new Caribou record is good, guys.

I love it. It's good to have him back.

I liked it but not as much as the last one! Home is fantastic, and I liked Ravi a lot too. Never Come Back stands out too, but that's only because the beat sounds almost identical to Show Me Love by Robin S.

i can't believe i forgot about OK computer. [emoji2357] move 36 chambers into the honourable mentions and put radiohead on the main list.

A lot easier to make a list when you give yourself nearly 3x the number the original tweet asked for
