Can we talk about “Hard Drive” by Cassandra Jenkins?

Faye Webster's album is super super good

It's basically Lambchop with female vocals and not 65 minutes long

It really is. I mean it starts with a lap steel guitar, so there was no way I wasn’t going to love it.

We’ve talked a lot about it here! It’s great. I had a complete 180 on that song.

Triple Dog Dare is so good. I love the storytelling. Perfect closer.

I liked the new Lucy Dacus a lot as well. I still think the best song that has come from the Baker/Bridgers/Dacus trio is "Bite the Hand" from the boygenius album. Which I think is a Dacus composition.

We had a lovely weekend away in the Yarra Valley, so much to be said for being out in nature, and driving in gorgeous areas listening to cold, wet weather music. Hard Drive is absolutely my #1 song of the year, it's incredible, and the rest of the album is really good too, and we also played Kaputt, Have We Met, Sleep Well Beast, Lucy Dacus, good times.

Jesus, there are some albums out this year that are killing me with pure joy.

I have been listening to MM..FOOD today, for some reason I've never heard it, despite it now being probably maybe nearly a decade since I first heard Madvillainy (just looked it up, almost exactly nine years).

It's great... the first five tracks are stellar.

New Courtney Barnett album out on Nov. 12! Here's the chill first single.

The new Sam Fender single is out. I liked his debut a lot, hoping he’ll avoid the sophomore slump.

I really like this Cassandra Jenkins album, but I wish it wasn't so short.

A related thought: I want to see her live, but she only seems to be playing as an opener for other artists. Seems weird to buy a ticket to see the opener only.

I've absolutely done it before, but it's not the best experience.

It's a shame, yeah, and about a fifth of it is the instrumental closer (which is really pretty) but I want more of it all.

PJ Harvey recently reissued White Chalk complete with demos. Gave me the impetus to listen to it for the first time in a while and reminded me what a singular album it is. I would rate it very high in her discography, however unpopular that ranking would be.

I'd rank it at the very bottom.

Just doesn't do it for me.

But to be clear, I think almost all of her albums are very good to great.

I remember buying White Chalk when it came out in 2007, really disliking it then, and not going back to it until maybe last year, when I found it much better than I remembered. It's still not a favorite, but for me it's on a similar level to Dry and The Hope Six Demolition Project.

To Bring You My Love, Is This Desire?, Stories..., and Let England Shake are my favorites.
