Happy for you guys! And believe me when I tell you that if he actually shows up and performs at the afterparty, it is going to blow your fucking mind. I saw Prince at a small club in Vegas hours after seeing his big show at one of the casinos, and it was two of the greatest hours of my life. I was probably like 15 feet away from the stage. He trotted out Larry Graham of Sly and the Family Stone (who had played with him before, but wasn't on that tour), Sheila E. showed up to play drums, and they went on some sick ass jams that occasionally seemed improved.
__________________It's nice that you got to see him do some of the classic stuff though, so you can experience the full range of his power. You got a deep cut from Gold Experience, a classic b-side (How Come U...), and that amazing ballad from Parade. At the afterparties...anything goes. |

I got a bit teary during Sometimes It Snows in April. What a fantastic surprise that was. On the Prince Rushmore for me, and it's not played often enough to count on it.
__________________We received nothing from Dirty Mind tonight, so I'm hoping he digs into that at the aftershow. I'm not expecting anything other than to have a great time, so a few deep cut favorites would be icing on the cake. |

At one of his Melbourne after parties (I didn't go) he didn't even show. People queued for hours, got let in at 2am and then hung around till 4am until it was finally announced he wasn't going to perform, apparently because he'd heard people had iPhones out.

Oh, Travis... I did know one of those covers, and it's a favorite song of mine :-(
(this is my first time seeing what we missed.) So excited for tonight. I just hope three trips to Chicago in here days doesn't kill my poor little dodge avenger.

Which song? I would have had a great time but, admittedly, been a bit lost. I probably know Partyman though because I'm so familiar with Batman '89.
Listened to 1999 this morning. So many great deep cuts on that record. |

So, two nights of Prince. I have never seen any band two nights in a row, so this was quite the interesting experience.
Night two, the aftershow, was hardly a Prince show, and more a NPG show with Prince directing, which was fine, because it was an excellent party. Plus, I have always loved Bluesy music at night in Chicago, it's a wonderful atmosphere, and this was the first time I ever had the opportunity to go to an entire show of just that. The crowd was just awful though once Prince left, and that was a shame. Regardless, fun!!! I suppose my reaction to the entire two-night experience can be kind of summed up by something that happened to me at work today. I work in an office connected to a factory and I can usually hear the (muffled) radio out on the floor. Today, Little Red Corvette came on, and even though I could barely hear it, I got so emotional for a moment, I almost cried. Silly, yeah, but I was a little emotionally over-whelmed by it all. Anyways, I hope I have an opportunity to see him again. I will definitely take the opportunity to see him (much closer than I did this time) with a SAME NIGHT aftershow to boot. Hopefully my luck will remain good.

The Grove is over in Anaheim, and it's usually where the has-beens play.
I might have to think about going to an early show. |

Dude, seriously, after that Forum run he could never play LA proper again and we'd have nothing to complain about. I still think about the show I attended now and then, so fucking amazing.

I still can't listen to little Red Corvette without getting emotional, so I feel that, Mike.
