![]() I've been listening to this one quite a lot, lately... ![]() Big man, pig man! Ha ha, charade you are! You well-heeled big wheel, Ha ha, charade you are! And when your hand is on your heart You're nearly a good laugh, almost a joker With your head down in the pig bin, Saying "Keep on digging." Pig stain on your fat chin What do you hope to find When you're down in the pig mine? You're nearly a laugh, You're nearly a laugh But you're really a cry ![]() Bus-stop, rat bag! Ha ha, charade you are! You fucked up old hag! Ha ha, charade you are! You radiate cold shafts of broken glass You're nearly a good laugh Almost worth the quick grin Do you like the feel of steel? You're hot stuff with a hat pin And good fun with a handgun You're nearly a laugh You're nearly a laugh, but you're really a cry ![]() Hey you, Whitehouse! Ha ha, charade you are! You house-proud, town mouse Ha ha, charade you are! You're trying to keep our feelings off the street You're nearly a real treat All tight lips and cold feet And do you feel abused? [suggestive breathing] You've got to stem the evil tide And keep it all on the inside Mary, you're nearly a treat Mary, you're nearly a treat, but you're really a cry. |

Hadn't seen you say that before hardie.
That's pretty interesting, and very believable too... I suppose that just won't happen today with CDs. But I seldom listen to the individual tracks... it's an album to listen to as a whole. ANIMALS ![]() Still yet to hear an album with better outros. Very nearly another almost perfect album. Even Pigs on the Wing are magnificent. |

New Zealand Floyd cover band I saw last night. Wasn't worth $160 bucks. Light show fairly poor. But still a good show.
Welcome to the Machine Pigs on the Wing 1 Dogs In the Flesh - “We want to dedicate this show to Rick Wright… he was a genius.” The Thin Ice Another Brick in the Wall, pt. 1 The Happiest Days of Our Lives Another Brick in the Wall, pt. 2 Mother Besides In the Flesh this was a pretty lacklustre effort at the Wall set I thought Hey You – Fantastic On the Turning Away – Was quite good, everyone seemed to know it but me What Do You Want From Me ~Intermission~ Shine on You Crazy Diamond (Parts I – V) – Mixing didn’t sound right, song sounded a little too busy, saxophonist was quite good The Dogs of War – Why’s everyone hate this? It’s not that bad Learning to Fly – Terrific, I love this song Have a Cigar Money Us and Them Any Colour You Like Brain Damage Eclipse – Keyboards, which are really what drive this song, were barely audible, vocals average Wish You Were Here – “This one’s for Rick… ~Encore~ Run Like Hell – Did this one particularly well Comfortably Numb – I believe he may have used the Pulse outro. I’m not sure, I’ve only listened to it once or twice, but it was definitely extended but kicked all kinds of ass. They appeared to be finished, with just synth going, and then the guitarist solo’d for another 30 seconds or so |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I also listened to Dark Side, and still love it just as much as when I first heard it, and still call it my favourite. Time doing it for me at the moment. ![]() I'm also enjoying The Wall, which really shows that I'm back on the Floyd, as it's probably only just ahead of Meddle as far as my favourites go. The Thin Ice better than I though. Talk, appreciate and talk! ![]() |

Listening to Moment Of Surrender has got me thinking about going through a Floyd phase again. The solo, the chorus and the vocal in the chorus reminds me a lot of Floyd

Actually, UC and F-BB reminds me of PF
Ha, I used to hate PF and I still do hate Waters, he is a genious but he's a dick too. Anyway, it is a great band. I love their work between Atom Heart Mother and The Wall. Still need to hear The Final Cut, A Momentary Lapse and Division Bell though. |

Final Cut is lyrically superb. Gunner's Dream and The Final Cut are the standout tracks for me. AMLOR is underrated I think. On the turning away and Sorrow are great, as is the instrumental Terminal Frost.
Division Bell is great from start to finish ![]() |

![]() Cymbaline one of my favourite Floyd songs. From what I've heard of the Final Cut, it's essentially a Waters solo album and is quite boring and lifeless. |

To end an argument with a mate, would you say the Wall story is a kid who, because of some traumatic childhood events, becomes isolated and decides to cut ties with the outside world, by building a wall around him, and then becomes so disillusioned he imagines himself the leader of a fascist party? |

Recently, while trawling the YouTube I stumbled upon the track that had freaked the hell out of me when I was little
![]() I also watched The Wall the movie when I was little and it had left a huge impression on me - especially the marching hammers sequence. |

![]() A lot of it is about interpretation and I agree with everything but the last part. I don't think he imagines it. What I mean is that while he might not have reached the heights of what you see in the movie, I think he lived through that personality. The way I look at The Wall is that as you pull back from the world you can't account for the subconscious things. As the personality of a person descends into themselves, other things come to the surface. In The Wall, those things are represented by war or Nazi symbolism. The victimized are tied to the monster and they become it while the monster becomes the victimized. It is about becoming the very thing that has destroyed you. ![]() |

I think that this is as good a reason as any to bump this thread:
Why Pink Floyd...? These reissues look extremely enticing. I'll likely fall prey to at least two of those deluxe box sets. |

These look nice, but what if you want the deluxe versions of DSOTM, WYWH, and The Wall and the rest of the remastered albums? Do you then by each album separately, or get the "Discovery" box and end up with two copies of those three albums?

I suppose the Discovery box would be cheaper, and then I could resell the standard versions of DSOTM, WYWH, and The Wall on eBay or something. But kind of a pain.
The big question is what kind of unreleased material are we talking about here. I didn't think there were a lot of leftovers from them. Probably a lot of alternate takes and the like. |

Saucerful of Secrets needs a remaster, badly, so that's good.

Didn't Dark Side just get remastered back in 2003 for the 30th anniversary? Still, this sounds like a cool idea...should be interesting to see what unreleased stuff they're able to dig up.
